The charges turned out to be donations to help fund the food cost/etc. Churches do this all the time with other parties and things like that. We charged a nominal fee of 3 bucks for a spaghetti dinner/talent show we hosted, so it wasn't anything big. And that's all this was here. So "charges" are "donations" not "we're gonna make money off this thing".
