YeHa! I'll tell you it has been a really long six weeks, but I received my medical release today!
I can't believe how back to normal I feel. Last week was really the turning point, this week I am pain free! I'm still going to play it safe, with regards to lifting things over 20 pounds, but wow, I'm healthy again, and not living in post-operative hell! I'll tell you, the percosets and vicotin made me throw-up, and when you have basically had your abdomen cut open from one hip bone to the other, you do not want to throw-up, cough or sneeze! I was basically on tylenol from day three, ouch!
What a sight I was that first week, trying to roll out of bed. Out of all the tasks I tried to complete, sweeping was the biggest suprise to me, related to how much it hurt. I tried sweeping the kitchen floor in week three, and I could not believe the pain in my abdomen. Who would have ever thought that sweeping uses stomach muscles?
I swear, we should all have washboard abs, because just about everything somehow involves them...
Congrats on that, you must be so ready to get out and about, but take it easy, your body will be weak for a bit! Funny how many muscles we use that we don't realize in our every day tasks. I swear I should be thin with all the housework I do!
Great news, Tess! Be sure to take it easy and not try to overdo anything. Get yourself one of those cute little robot vacuums for the dust bunnies and give your sweeping muscles a break. One of my kids has one and it's a bit noisy, but it does an acceptable job.
