i read on SOC that randolph mantooth has been cast as tate's father. the role is recurring.
he apparently auditioned for the role of clint which went to JVD.
another post said that *asa* was offered recurring which he has turned down.
okay, i'm not a fan of asa's...not the character nor the actor. that being said i think since he's only appears on a recurring basis anyway & the current financial conditions of all soaps it was unrealistic for him to expect a contract at this point. i don't even think his health would allow him to work more than he does.
oh & not sure how reliabel either of these items are.

Oh, kris, I'm sorry I hadn't read your post before going ahead with a "Phil Carey leaving" thread. Sorry, hon! You get up way earlier than I do on so many levels, lol.
Randolph Mantooth, eh? He's been around a long time, and not one of my favourites. However, at this point, maybe OL would have been well advised to cast him as Clint insteaad of JVD, becasue with the direction Clint's being taken, I'd rather have an actor I'm not crazy about in the role. Clint, for me, has turned into a jerk.
