Extra Scoops
In the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy, OLTL has decided to pull the May storyline focusing on a Llanview High hostage situation. The plot in question, which was written and filmed back in March, had teens Starr, Cole, Langston and Britney held at gunpoint by fellow teen Henry. "In light of the recent tragic events, ABC Daytime has pulled the story that affected 17 different episodes and is working to re-write, re-tape, re-edit and entirely re-work the show in order to deal with this story in the most sensitive way possible," a rep for ABC confirms. Reportedly, there were never any plans for blood to be shed, and while Henry intends to kill the students and commit suicide, he was ultimately stopped. "Out of respect to those affected by this devastating tragedy, especially the families, I felt that it was important to remove this storyline from our show," adds Frank Valentini, OLTL's Executive Producer.
tina that hostage situation was aired the wednesday before all this crap happened. I was thinking that last night, how scary is it now. They show some scary stuff on that show sometimes.
In the hostage thing on Medium the bad guy actually just flat out shot one of the hostages, at least with this story Higley said she hadnt planned on henry actually killing someone.
its creepy though that aside from the school shooting, a week after they aired a work related hostage thing, that whole thing with NASA happened too
I thought it was really creepy how they killed that girl, in the freezer with water. I wonder to myself if anyone would choose to be a copy-cat after seeing something like that!
I think some things should not be shown on TV, and yet I firmly believe in freedom of speech. It's a very fine line. Slippery slope.
yeah that was creepy seeing her in the freezer like that, and it was really sad that the little girl at the end was all broke.
I agree, some things shouldnt be shown. As far as copycats go, most of these cop shows get there idea's from the headlines, so I dont know how that would work..
anyways, I am really excited that we will get a new episode til the end
yeah it was creepy, usually I DVR it..and I did but I actually got to watch it last night...i am sure the little girl did kill her boyfriend, thats why I liked at the end when she got stuck in Mexico...though they picked a good actress for her cause I still kind of felt bad for her.
