Arkansas Tornado/lack of troops

It's rather scary when you learn we don't have enough troops/equipment to help in a disaster situation like the Arkansas Tornado,

So then I ask, how can we be preventing another 9/11 if all our troops and equipment are tied up in a ridiculous war?cry.gif

having extra troops around isnt going to prevent another 9/11. All they would do is help after it happens. The only thing that could prevent another 9/11 is the using what we know. I agree it is a useless war but I dont think its fair for us to go blow a country apart and then leave to let them put it back together.

True about the blowing a country apart, but do they really need that many men to help rebuild. I guess I just find that hard to believe. It is also so very scary to think that if God forbid we were attacked or someone tried to invade us, all ofour defense is over there. Our cops are brave and wonderful people but they really couldn't handle somethinglike that.

I agree that they dont need all of the people over there, and obviously what they are doing is not working. They need to figure out a better plan.

And it is scary to think about our defenses being elsewhere. But all of the US soldiers are not in Iraq...we still have some here in America.

I have to admit that I would be more encouraged about this war, if only I felt confident that we had a Commander in Chief who could handle the war.

The war in Iraq is a civil war similar to Vietnam, it took us too long to get out of Vietnam and it's taking too long to get out of Iraq.

At this point we are only losing lives and limbs. And I believe the enemy knows we are vulnerable now, so bringing home the troops can help prevent a future attack.

there's a news story on today that we prevented something in NJ.

We have to protect all of our borders, and ships coming in and out. How can we possibly do that with our troops in Iraq and Afganistan?

Bush will not accept this war was a complete and utter failure. His approval rating is at 28%. Our troops are being forced to stay with a back-door draft.

Putting Iraq back together will take until the end of time, they have been fighting since the beginning of time.

And what if we experience another Katrina, we need the National Guard at the very least!!doh.gif

You are right about one thing. There will never ever be peace in the Middle East. If we are waiting around for that to happen our troops will never come home. I hate to say it, but we do have to pull out. I dno't see it as losing hte war or abandoning anyone or anything. Honestly I think it's common sense. You see this is where Bush makes no sense. He claims to be a devout Christian, but the Bible distinctly says that the Middle East will be a battle ground until literally the end of time here on Earth. Sending our troops over there was either a total step against his own faith or something he did without thinking. Ok yeah I know I just can't keep things lite.

I definitely agree with you about the bible thing, I just recently started attending church again, which I why I can no longer say that we should blow them all up and get it over with. And on most days I agree that the troups need to come home. We need to leave just enough there to man a base just like we have in every other country, and send the rest home.

Yes one base is good, just like every where else. Totally and completely. We should continue the hunt for BinLaden (if he's even still alive), but I truly believe that should be carried out by special ops. It really ticks me off that he wasn't killed at the first chance way back then.

yeah, I actually support the war in Afganistan completely. I dont mind fighting with the bastards who actually attacked us....but at this point we have no proof of Iraq's involvement in 9/11...Now dont get me wrong, I am really glad that we are taking out some seriously crazy damn people...But we still need to send people home. My friend Jason is in Iraq now on his FOURTH tour

the fact of the matter is we're not doing a single thing to rebuild iraq. that's crap. the people who need to actively rebuild that country is their government. they don't lift a finger. quite happy to leave it to our young people.

the sooner we get out of there the better.

I have to say about us not doing anything to rebuild being crap isnt true. I have a lot of friends who are Seabees and the only reason most of them are in Iraq is to rebuild buildings that were destroyed by the war. Im not talking about rebuilding there political crap I could care less about that. But we and them destroyed schools, homes and so many other buildings that I know for a fact our Seabees and possibly Army engineers are helping to rebuild.

I spent 7 months in Kuwait before this war started helping to set up a base camp so that we could help them with rebuilding...
