Yes, kris, we've been using them for a couple of years now. I don't particularly like the light from them, not bright enough, but I'm getting used to it, and the weirdness of them not turning on instantly as the old incandescent bulbs did.

We haven't noticed any significant drop in electric bills, but then again, the price of hydro-electric power has gone up here. The short answer is yes, there should be a drop, but it would take some calculations to figure out how much.

I haven't switched yet. Are they the kind you just buy at the store?

You can get them in Walmart, we finally switched over every last bulb

We saved about $35 a month

Kae, Check your watts - you'll get just as much light. Also there are some that look yellowish and some that look more white, depends on the brand

35.00 savings .. wow, it'll definitely be worth it considering the evil electirc company is raising our rates.

I made the mistake of asking my husband about savings, and being the number nut that he is, he ran a quick analysis and brought me up a spread sheet that showed an overall reduction of $200 a year, but we had consumed far more kilowatt hours. The only thing that had otherwise changed was use of the flurescent bulbs.

Unplug everything not is use too, as it continues to draw electricity

To really save money, turn your water heater down a bit

OH yeah I never thought of that. Hmmm I'm trying to think of all of the things I have plugged in right now. It's actually a good thing that we have so few outlets I guess.
