Ever so gradually, we've almost stopped altogether talking about the soaps. For me, I only watch Y&R now, tape it at 11 a.m. and watch later so I can ff through ads and the silly stuff. OLTL - ocassionally I'll tape it, but if I spend 15 minutes watching now, it's a rare day. AMC has been history for months.
Funny, because it's how we all got together in the first place, and it looks as if we're giving up on the genre! Are you watching, or have you thrown in the towel?
I have pretty much thrown in the towel. I'll occasionally catch AMC on Soap Net at night, but more often than not, I'll turn the channel. I very rarely watch OLTL, I really do not have any interest in the current stories. They took my Tess and Nash, and morphed it into something that is not even recognizable for me.
I'm an avid reader, so when I can squeeze some free time in, I am usually curled up with a book, if I am not working outside. Work is insane these days, so soaps are very low on my list of priorities. I do miss the old days when I could count on my soaps for my background entertainment.
actually this week AMC and Y&R are the only soaps I watched. I think I may have glanced at GH but wasnt interested. And I havent been interested in OLTL for awhile now.
I have been interested in AMC just because of nuGreenlee. I think that Sabine is a sweet heart and I have enjoyed watching her. This past week is the first week in months that I actually watched the entire week of the show
my *watch pattern* hasn't changed a whit in years lol.
generally speaking i'm enjoying AMC....except for the greenlee SL. i like sabine a lot but i just can't deal w/greenlee's bitch, bitch, bitch, my vagina hurts routine. STFU, greenlee, just STFU. i had truly forgotten how awful greenlee is.
i'm hoping alexa & justin change their minds about leaving. i've always been a babe fan.
the only SL of interest on OLTL if jessica/nash for me. i truly believe antonio is getting what he deserves. he never gave jess a chance to adjust to her integrated self & she wasn't strong enough at that point to stand up to him.
much as i love TSJ i'm not looking forward to todd's return since it will inevitably lead to a todd/blair reunion....something i very much dread! i hate martie being paired up w/either miles or john....john is the kiss of death for any romantic partner & miles is just creepy. clint/dorian/vicki are a huge snooze fest. i want my natalie/vincent pairing dammit!
this is the firs time i've felt let down by GH sweeps. i hate the jason/elizabeth/baby crap. i also hate amelia/sam...amelia/sonny stuff. i do like the sonny/kate stuff. hate jax being so in denial about jerry. hate that they made craig into jerry. he was much better being independently evil. spinelli needs to get cracking & get emily out of her jam. usually GH has the best sweeps but not this time.
in spite of all my complaints i'm still watching....tho i usually multitask & read while watching, but i've always done that. sadly today i'm out of books whaaaaaaaa!

I think it was this entire scenario with Jessica being sick and how utterly ridiculous this all was. She just happens to get sick at the exact moment she's going to tell Antonio she's with Nash. There's a lot of other things, Natalie kissing what may as well be her own uncle, Dorian and Clint boring me to tears, the teen scene getting obnoxious, and this whole racial arsonist sucks.
And of course we have the boring characters. I couldn't care less about Layla, Tate, and Adrianna. All the storylines have potential to be really good but they ultimately all bore.

Things that are wrong with OLTL Nash/Jessica/Antonio triangle....just when you think its done and the right people will be together, they throw a rediculous story where a Buchanan woman gets sick....again.
Dorian/Clint/Vicki....why are these two great women fighting over someone like Clint, and why do the people at OLTL insist on putting so much damn make up on the actor who is Clint.
Antonio leaves town with Jamie....yeah thats a great reason to solve your problems..And like Antonio would have been honest and up front with Christian had the roles been reversed.
John/Marty: why do the writers insist on having this guy be paired with a woman, why cant he just be a cop with no lady love.
nuMarty...enough said, though i like that it looks like she is the killer....she makes more sense then Paige
Rex/Adrianna/Tate: do we really need a triangle where at least two of the people involved we could care less about. How did Rex go from Jenn to Adrianna, could they be any different
The arsonist crap: I like Talia..but seriously how many times has she been outwitted by these people, what police academy did she go to
hmm...if I go to that academy I wonder if i could get a job like her

Todd/Blair: okay, so I am one of the few who is not opposed to a reunion. But not now, I saw serious potential between her and John and though it goes against what i said above about him being with a woman...but these two could be hot.
I love TSJ but Todd can stay dead for awhile for all i care, I mean does anyone really miss the character. And when is the TJ secret supposed to come out anyways...Marcie has the potential to be an entertaining character, why is she only seen as a teacher.
Starr/Cole/Britney: why is it that they put Cole with someone different and left Starr in the cold, don't the idiots know that we care about Starr, not the other two.
And Brandon was right, what on earth were they thinking having Natalie kiss Miles...thats just gross. It really is like kissing her uncle. I am not a huge Vincent fan but that would be WAY better then her and Miles. And what is this fascination the idiots have the prostitutes....first Miles and now Todd will be involved with one too...Whats that.
Yep, the day that Natalie kissed Miles, I think, was close to my last day of holding out hope for this soap. It was definitely time for a good long break when Jessica turned yellow, got cancer, etc. This was Higley's big pay-off, her poignant justification for dragging on the triangle.
As for GH....my biggest pet peeve is how they let talent like Ted King go to waste. Ever since they changed Carly's from Tamara to Jennifer this character has been down hill. He showed great potential with Skye, why did the writers feel it necessary to write him into a corner that he couldn't be written out of.
And why is Alexis defending Craig, the man who poisoned her beloved nephew. Why are all these people afraid of this man. Your telling me that a man with as much power as Jason Morgan cant get his sister out of the trouble that she was put in. It truly makes no sense. I understand the appeal for the man who plays Craig..and since they cleaned him up a bit I don't even mind watching him...but please make it believable....and seriously what happened to GH and sweeps. This is the first sweeps for GH where I didn't even bother putting it on the DVR.
Why is Carly standing by Jax when she knows the damage that Craig caused her best friend. I know that Jax is important to her....but Jason has been there for her through every little thing she has pulled.
The ratings in SOD said that GH lost a tenth as Liz gave birth...something like this should cause viewers to watch but so many people are sick of this story. I don't even know where to start about this story....If everyone is worried about what will happen to Lucky if he finds out about not being Jakes father, why don't they stop to consider how much damage will be done when he eventually finds out...Jason of all people should know that things like this always come out. Wait til Robin gets a hold of the truth, she cant keep a baby secret for anything.
Will someone please tell me the appeal of this Sam/Amelia storyline...and both of the women being lookers isnt an appeal.
I love Spinelli, I just read that he signed a multi year deal with the show, this is the only thing making me happy at the moment
well I watched today, could it be becasue I'm stuck on this level of my house! Well seriously it wasn't that bad, David was on! I love David. Antonio was a bit of an ass, but he'll be coming back to save Jess
Where is Nat anyway, they keep saying she has the flu, is Melissa Archer on vacation?

shelly, i agree w/your assessment of GH. sweeps were non~existent this time around & usually GH has the best sweeps. there are very few SLs that i'm enjoying right now....another first for me.
MA is apparently on vacation....at least that's what i'm hearing.
i just want jessica & nash together. truthfully i'd rather see antonio w/marty. they have much better chemistry than antonio/talia.
i'm a tsj fan, but have so not missed todd. hate the very hint of a todd/blair reunion.
miles is a psychopath & needs to be shot like a junk yard dog.
i enjoy cole/star....stop gagging right this instant lol.
find myself not missing evangaline at all. i was never a big fan & never understood what all the fuss was about her contract. supporting characters do not get *outs* in their contracts.....and only a precious few leads get them. i don't even want to see her recast.

I have throw in the towel on soaps pretty much altogether. I don't have the time or energy to spend on them anymore. I occasionally catch Y&R and Days, but that's about it.
I worked from home yesterday, and had soap net on in the background in the morning, and found it really painful to watch AMC, and the Greenlee mess. Ouch, just when you think it can't get worse, it does! I just shut the TC off with OLTL came on.
Thank goodness for conference calls in the afternoon, which caused AMC to be muted, because it looked painful. I shut the TV off for OLTL again, after partially watching it for about 15 minutes. GH does not have any storylines going on right now that interest me.
So I'm basically another ex-soap fan here, and I don't know if I will even bother to follow them again.
I still watching and follow OLTL and GH but i'm very close I guess to being a non-soap fan because if it wasn't for those two and a few characters that I still care about on us I could be very easy a non soaper at this point. I yet again awhile back wrote off AMC for numerous reasons so I can't say for sure i'd never write off OLTL (i've come real close on that one) or GH (not so much on that one). It takes a lot and something I find just about irredeemable but I have done it before...ask AMC, Y&R, GL, B&B and ATWT. I stuck with ATWT as the last show I watched on that network for a LONG time but eventually I had to drop it!
