So I cut my foot by dropping a table on it, went to the emergency room and waited hours. There were people there that clearly were not sick, or in any kind of pain ahead of me. Not sure what that's about. Are they using the emergency room because they have no insurance?
Finally we found a First Care facility close to home and they stitched me up quickly and I got tetanus shot.
I had blood all over the house. I'm on crutches today, just to keep the stitches in place.
It must not have been you right foot, your driving foot, and lucky for that! I agree, emergency rooms are a horror, and an eight hour stay is about par for the course.
Are you in pain now? Did the blood get on carpeting? Poor Tina!
Yes blood on the carpeting, tried to clean up with Resolve. My son actually cleaned the blood on the basement stairs! I was amazed.
Only driving for ballet and school - it was my left foot, but one time I broke my right ankle and drove with my left foot for three months! Amazing what you can do when you feel the need!
Hopefully it will heal by Thursday for my son's graduation ceremony, I'll have to wear shoes!!
Tina, if I were you, I'd be looking in the closet for the perfect pair of sandals, cause there's no way a pair of shoes won't kill your foot! Stitches take a whole week, and the graduation is tomorrow. The last thing you need is ripped open sutures, an infection and all the complications!
One summer my husband had a delayed onset allergic reaction on his foot. We had a big deal wedding to go to, and he put on his dress shoes. Two months on crutches followed. Be careful, okay?
Christine, I'm so sorry to hear about that, talk abut bad timing! I can definitely relate to bad emergency room stories, after my eight hours sitting in on in Las Vegas, with every vagrant in the city casing the room, while my daughter was there bleeding from the chin with a concussion! We sat for over seven hours before they brought us back, that was after arriving in an ambulance. She needed a CT scan to make sure there was no bleeding in her brain, which had me doing some major WTF's about the wait. Oh well!
I hope you have a wonderful time at your son's graduation. Have tons of fun mom, it's such a great feeling!
thanks everyone for caring! The cut is on the top of my foot, so hoping for at least one pair of shoes to get me in the door and then I can take it off if need be. It might have to be a heel that is low on the toes. I put some tape on it after removing the bandages to hold the stitches in place another day.
I feel bad for you Sophia, to be in a strange town and need to go to a hospital! From now on I'm looking for any emergent care facilities like we found last night. And to think she needed a brain scan and they made you wait
Why can't they organize the ER's better. There's supposed to be triage nurses. It's absurd.
My husband's boss took her son and they waited 5 hours, different town, but same story.
Maybe we need to write our congressmen and women?!
hey tina...I am a bit late to the best wishes party but I hope that your foot feels well enough that you can enjoy the graduation. What a horrible experience.
My mom had a pretty bad situation while traveling, except luckily for her the hospital was good. She got horrible food poisoning while in Florida and had to be hospitalized. THey wanted to keep her for longer, but my mom is a horrible patient and felt guilty because she thought she was ruining vacation (I know crazy woman huh) so she checked herself out early and put up with it in the hotel room the best that she could.
yah I'd rather be in a hotel room suffering than in a hospital room suffering, those damn nurses won't let you rest!
And can I add that I think most doctors are idiots! I practically did the doctors job for him, while he was getting the crap out of the cabinet I had to make sure I put the pressure on my foot and then I added some butterfly type bandages to be sure the stitches hold! The nurse hit me in the head with a lamp, and was unable to take my temperature! And then the doc just couldn't decide how many stitches to give me for God's sake, he was driving me nuts
