It should be legal, we should be able to decide if we want to suffer or die peacefully. Doctors do so much to keep people alive, and that at times can just lead to more suffering. There are some really nasty diseases that are fatal and yet people have months of suffering before the end finally comes.
It is sad...but I saw this article on CNN and wondered what you all thought. I grew up hearing him referred to as Dr. Death, but as I get older I tend to lean towards thinking that what he did maybe wasnt such a bad thing
I guess the closest experience I have is when my grandma had liver cancer and she did suffer in the end, just round the clock shots of pain medicine. What kind of life is that? She chose to die at our home instead of a hospital, she didn't want all those tubes and wires and machines.
it really angers me that we have more compassion for our pets than we do for our fellow human beings. he never forced his beliefs on anyone. anyone he assisted sought him out. it was totally their choice.
interestingly the morning show i'm watching (NBC) just said he's only banned from assisting for the next two years.

I think that article I posted said that in the state of Oregon if a person only has 6 months to live then they can be given pills to end it sooner.
and seriously, it said he was arrested for helping someone, i think it said lou gherigs (sp) disease...and us soap people all saw the guy who was on OLTL with this, i can honestly say I don't know if I would want to live with that for ever
