i have to admit this is one of my favorite summer shows.
the audition episodes are done. next week they whittle it down to top 20.
i was so impressed w/the level of talent this year. lots of people w/great feet, extention & technique....i always look at the fee first (the more curve when in extention the better technique generally.)
i already have some favorites:
~~~ benji's sister. wasn't it great to see him again? ~~~ stanislav's sister was very good too. ~~~ the football player turned dancer. for a guy w/only 8 months of formal training he was amazing. looking forward to watching his progress. really rooting for him to make the next cut. ~~~ the upper extremity amputee. ~~~ the girl who had stopped dancing & auditioned b/c her mom was having a breast biopsy
there are many more....just can't remember them all.
this is going to be a highly competitive season.
watching nigel try to honor his promise to not be as nasty this season was funny tho his nastiness is entertaining. he's this show's simon.
We haven't watched it yet, but since there's so little to choose from some evenings, I think we'll give it a try. My husband loves watching TV from 8 to 11 every night, and so often lately, we have just turned the damn thing off.
Ugh - it's over 30 degrees here today, humidex reading of 36. A bad hair day.
So You Think You Can Dance is a great show.....way better than DWTS. the winner gets $100,000, a year of high end dance lessons, & a part in a show in vegas. last years' winner, benji, has spent the past year in celine dion's vegas extravaganza. they haven't announced what the show will be this year.
the kids come to this show w/tons of training....w/a few exceptions. they bring in a few of the hip hop crew b/c they are entertaining....not b/c they're well trained. last year a young man named musa turned out to be amazing. he made it to the top 10. it's really competitive. i think in all likelihood those that make it to the top 10 come out w/contracts to dance *somewhere*.
let me know what you think after you've watched.
Kris, yeah, sorry. We're celsius here. 30 is HOT, at least for us. It's close to 80 degrees F, but it's super humid and muggy. Feels much hotter. I love it when it's cool enough to need a sweater.
We'll give this show a try this week. If it's better than DWTS, and we did watch some of that, it sounds like it's worth a shot. Thanks!
