My 2 worst are the wuzzification of Todd and the deadliest drawn out triangle of Jess/Nash/Antonio.
Then I'd toss in Natalie versus Evangeline - absolutely hated that rivalry over John and the ensuing hostility it engender amongst some viewers. Thank goodness nobody here ever got caught up in it.
I REALLY didn't like her killing Jen but didn't she also do the Antonio and Cristian aren't really brothers(The Santi storyline) and the mother of all of them that I hate is didn't she do the Jess isn't really Clint's daughter thing? I HATE ABSOLUTELY HATE WITH A PASSION (probably just like most true soap fans) when WRITERS REWRITE THE SET HISTORY OF A CANNON CHARACTER!!
Does anyone have the time line of the various head writers? Was Higlet's stint there shorter tthan most others, or was it about hte same? I never followed that aspect of the soaps.
Malone is also famous for his very successful stint writing the soap opera One Life to Live. He wrote the series from 1991 to 1995 and garnered much critical acclaim for his storylines, especially the gang rape of Marty Saybrooke and one involving the tight bond between an ostracized homosexual teenager and a preacher. OLTL was averaging about 5 million viewers when Malone left in 1996 (Daytime TV ratings). His next soap writing job was with Another World in 1997. He returned to write One Life to Live in 2003 and 2004.
While writing One Life to Live, he wrote a novel called The Killing Club, which was tied in to the show. For months, viewers watched character Marcie Walsh (Kathy Brier) write the book. The book was published in February 2004 with the authors listed as Marcie Walsh and Michael Malone. To explain this, Marcie said she took the book to "Professor Malone" at Llanview University, who helped her re-write it. After Malone's departure from the show, Dena Higley continued this storyline, as a copycat killer murdered characters on the show exactly as had occurred in the book.

The Santi stuff didn't bother me at all! I hated Mitch being Jessica's father, hated it! I want them to rewrite that crap. I hated that Old Victor wasn't really dead, I mean c'mon and then he wanted Natalie's heart. So far from the way Victor was portrayed while he was actually alive on the show in the early years.
I think it's funny how not so long after Erica Slezak slammed Higley, she got fired!
maybe the actresses do have some pull?
Not sure who was writing back in the day that Blair shot Max and Todd helped her cover it up, but I liked that story line. It was kind of romantic. Then there was a bomb in the police station and Blair wouldn't leave without Todd.
But then he took her baby away, that was a really difficult thing to forgive Todd. Blair had some great scenes when she learned the truth, though.
that was all before Higley. It seems that Malone was the writer for most of the good stuff. I didnt mind the santi stuff, I just didnt like Tico and i dont like that they made Chris and Antonio not really brothers.
Thanks for the list and time line of HWs. It does look like they are changed with some regularity and that Higley's reign wasn't all that short in comparison.
what suprises me is that Higley was on Days for quite some time, granted not the HW but still a long time...and during a lot of that time Days was at its best
