Brief Returns, Casting News

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) -- "All My Children" fans will see a few new faces along with some old faces thanks to tales with children at the heart.

The beautiful and charismatic twin girls who have portrayed Kendall and Ryan's (Alicia Minshew and Cameron Mathison) son, Spike, on "All My Children" full-time since October 5, 2006, have been replaced. Ava and Julia Farrar last aired on the daytime drama on Thursday, June 28. Beginning on the week of July 16, Alexander, Benjamin and Caleb Eckstein will take over the role. Upon joining the cast earlier this month, the triplet boys were put to the test with the grinding schedule of daytime television work almost immediately. "AMC's" newest Head Writers, Barbara J. Esensten and James Harmon Brown, have set in motion a big story that will at least partially revolve around a dramatic event that has a lasting impact on young Spike.

In additional casting news relating to this impending story, Eden Riegel is making yet another return to "AMC" - this time for just one-episode. Discussing the return, Esensten and Brown tells TV Guide Online that they wrote her into an episode, crossing their fingers that they could get her back because "something is happening on the show that's so important that we had to." The writers are very appreciative that Riegel has agreed to appear. On the episode, scheduled to air on Tuesday, August 14, Bianca phones home from Paris to talk to her sister, Kendall. This return will mark the talented young actresses fourth return stint since exiting the show in February 2005; Riegel last aired on April 26.

In casting news alluding to story with a less dramatic flare, Lee Meriwether, Miss America 1955, will make an incredibly rare appearance on "AMC" on Thursday, July 12. Ruth Martin will emerge from the Martin attic, which she's been in since 2003, for the christening of baby Jenny. Jenny is the infant daughter of Krystal and Tad (Bobbie Eakes and Michael E. Knight), which makes Ruth the cute tyke's grandmother. Taking over for Mary Fickett who starred in the role for 26 years, Meriwether began playing the pivotal role of Mrs. Martin in 1996.

the article I read on the triplets says that 2 of them are identical and the third one is actually not...and it says that the triplets were born completely natural. Without any fertility treatments of any kind

Glad to see Ruth Martin, but not this tragic story about Spike
