Carolyn Hinsey July 6, 2007 - On Kevin and Jana Spoilers

day, July 6th 2007, 4:00 AM

Kevin lures Jana back to Genoa City next week on "The Young and the Restless" with dangerous results.
"Luring Jana back is really fun because Kevin gets to be devious and manipulative again," says Greg Rikaart, who plays him. "Obviously, Kevin still has really strong feelings for Jana. The opposite of love isn't hate. It's indifference. That's not what's happening here. He has carefully crafted what he thinks is a foolproof plan."
Hardly.
Kevin deliberately crashed his car this week so it would make the news, so his former girlfriend - who tried to con him and frame him for murder - would return to check on him.
"He's blinded by passion to bring Jana to justice," says Rikaart. "Basically, they're chatting on the Web cam and he tells her if she comes back, they'll run away.
"He tells her he's in a warehouse and shows her the money . Then she just shows up, which is probably the first sign that the plan is unraveling. No sooner does he shut the computer off, then there she is."
Kevin immediately chloroforms Jana, and then throws her in the closet with Colleen, who arrives to try to stop him.
"He does feel guilt over Colleen's involvement in this whole fiasco. He wants to keep her out of it so she won't be an accomplice."
To that end, he releases Colleen and then handcuffs Jana to a pole, pulls a gun on her, and tries to get her to 'fess up.
"Can you find one hole in that plan?" says Rikaart. "He points the gun at her and she has a seizure! Kevin doesn't buy it for a second. She starts speaking nonsense about their [imaginary] flat in London and their children named Nigel and ... I forget the other one. Kevin's looking at her skeptically, slightly confused by her behavior."
While Kevin tries to figure out if Jana is faking, Michael and Daniel burst in.
"They might as well come in on a white horse," Rikaart says, adding that his character's brother and best friend do stop Kevin from killing Jana.
"If he killed her, he could argue self-defense, because she tried to kill him a year ago. But I think where the story is going is much more interesting. He has a lot of dark and ugly feelings about her, but at the same time, this is the first woman he had a healthy, romantic, adult relationship with.
"Even when you want to forget about somebody, you can't help but remember some of the good times."
As viewers know, Kevin, his brother Michael Baldwin and mom Gloria are a family that always battles back.
"His mother is a black widow. She's given two guys strokes," says Rikaart with a laugh. "And Michael held Christine captive years ago. So, Kevin could burn Jana with face cream, hold her captive, or lock her in her own freezer. Oh, the Fisher-Baldwins. We're a motley crew."
Comings and goings: Jason-Shane Scott (Will) returns to "One Life to Live" for a few episodes in September. ... "Passions" welcomes back Kathleen Noone (Edna) and Marianne Muellerleile (Norma) for some more hijinks July 19. ... Speaking of Gloria being a black widow (above), Ted Shackelford, who plays her husband, William, exits "Y&R" on July 18. ... Randolph Mantooth (Kirk) finishes up at "OLTL" next week. ... Elena Goode is out as Jade on "As the World Turns," finishing up July 16.
Don't touch that dial: "General Hospital" embarks on a wacky plot next week when Finola Hughes returns as Anna to help Noah impersonate a rocker named Eli Love. With Rick Springfield playing both roles, can a rendition of "Jessie's Girl" be far behind?
