Eva Longoria and that French basketball guy are getting married today in Paris. They had a civil ceremony yesterday. And my mother and I are interviewing care-givers today. I hope it's a lucky day.
We just got home from a bunch of errands and there were SO many limos out there today. 7/7/07 is considered by the Chinese to be the luckiest day of the century for marriage and there's a huge Chinese population in Toronto.
And the last interview with a lady named Ophelia went very well, but she wouldn't quote me a rate in person, only over the phone tomorrow or Monday. Hmmmm. I wonder what that means. She took care of my parents' across the street neighbour for 7 years, so she knows the neighbourhood, and she drives, too! And on her days off, her 29 year old daughter will fill in for us. I'm bracing myself for the math test when I hear the hourly rate!
Sure! That'd be great getting someone on such a good recommendation. Long commute, though.
It's very weird hiring someone to look after my mother. She has always been so independent and busy, driving all over the place.... Now she can't drive at all (thank goodness her licence was revoked) and needs to be watched like a youngster lest she try to do something foolish and fall again. I hope and pray that both my parents accept this huge change in their lives and not dismiss the lady for some frivolous reason. Or think that they can't afford it and try to get by on their own, because that would be a disaster.
I'll try not to borrow that worry for today. I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine, and get outside to cook some chicken and vegies on the grill. Wish you could all join us! It's a gorgeous evening here! And I got some of those great little summer potatoes that don't need to be peeled. Yeah! (I'm a cheap date - no peeling and I get all excited, lol.)
Happy Saturday night gang. Clinking my glass atcha'll.
I met an old friend for lunch today, and he took me to the Cheese Cake Factory. It was wonderful. I could not make up my mind what type to get, so he suggested that I order all three and we make the decision at his apartment. The tarimasu cheesecake was wonderful.
We then rode around looking at condo's he's considering. Why a single 37-year-old man needs something with 3000+ square feet is beyond me. Tina, we were looking in Woburn.....
KaeEll, I hope all goes well with the Monday rate, I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
Shelly, you and I should have met up at one of the Casino's in-between our houses, and tried our hands at 7-7-07 luck...... Darn, I was born on 7-7, but once you get into your 40's it's like, oops, here goes another one!
