Wow, another work week has clicked by and here we are again at the beginning of another summer weekend. So what's in store for you guys?
We are leaving soon to go greet the new girl arriving at my parents' house from Guyana in an hour, then clear out the guest room for her. We started that last night but I ran out of steam.
We had torrential rains yesterday and this morning there was water in the basement. Argh! We just had the back of the house waterproofed a few years ago, but this time we think the water came in through the side. Not good news.
Nick and Laura are loving Thailand (and in retrospect pretty much hated Australia), Mike is on his way to the Czech Republic to meet his newish girlfriend in Prague, then driving to Berlin for a few gigs there. Tony and his family will be home tonight from a week away at a little resort in Picton (eastern end of Lake Ontario). We'll be calling the waterproofers.
My husband loved Thailand. Dont suppose you could get them to send me a postcard from there too eh. Im decorating my bathroom in this around the world theme and I have framed these postcards that I get from around the world. I have the one you sent me from Australia, a girlfriend of mine sent me 2 from Iraq, my hubby got me one from Panama. I have a friend in Italy I have to get him to send me one. I think it will look cool to have these post cards from all over along with the shower curtain of the globe. I have enough shotglasses from around the world to put in something too. Should be nice.
Anyways, my weekend should be good. Vinnie leaves again on Sunday so we are going to spend the next day or so enjoying each other. He was nice and did most of his laundry before he came home so I wont have much to do, just a uniform which I washed last night. I never could iron the creases very well so I wont be doing those. I miss when we were at the Army base and he had them drycleaned. I am not above paying someone else to put creases in his clothes.
Good luck getting everything settled in kae, I bet both your mom and dad are happy to be home. And now that they are both home that meals on wheels thing will come in handy. Your moms getting it too right.
I hope everyone has a good friday and good weekend
Sure, Shelly. I'll email him right away. He'll probably send it here to me, then I'll mail it down to you if that's okay. They're leaving for Koh Chang on Sunday, so the card might come from there. I'll ask Mike to send one from Germany or Czech Republic too, if you like.
I know what you mean about those creases! My husband stayed in the reserve for a few years after we were first married and I had the pleasure of dealing with the uniforms. Eventually I just sent them out. I've never liked ironing anything and those heavy fabrics are hard to deal with!
Mom and dad are still in bed this morning. We'll leave here soon.
Have a great time with Vinnie and Jolene today and tomorrow.
I would love to have a postcard from anywhere outside of the US. I have enough state postcards to put up. So thank you. I actually still have the envelope from when you sent the postcard because I thought the Canadian stamp was cool looking.
And yes, usually Vinnie does his own uniforms..but it makes me feel like a bad wife for making him do it himself. But I do wash them, even when he insists on washing them all by themselves. Oh what a waste of a load of laundry. His coveralls always need washed by themselves because they have funky chemicals in them. But its not like he actually works in the dungarees. Luckily he usually sends his whites and his blues out, so I dont have to worry about those.
He will be gone this time for 3+ weeks but me and Jolene will be out of town for 2 of those 3 weeks so it will be easier this time. Then he goes down to Georgia, lucky man. I want to go there.
And thats good your parents are still in bed, bet your mom missed sleeping in a real bed and not a hospital bed.
I'm stuck here working away. It is not looking like I am going to be able to take any time off today, but at least I am at home, verses in the office.
Shelly, I will try to remember to ask my father if he can pick-up a postcard for you from Ireland. He is there right now, and comes back to the US for a few months around the start of August.
That would be cooll Tess. Ireland is one of those places that I want to go to oh so badly. Its at the top of my list of places I have yet to see but want to.
And thats good your at home, sucks that you have to work all day though. Things still crazy at work eh. Hopefully they will find a good replacement boss for you. I will pray for you for that one. Bad bosses suck
