Well her surgery has been postponed...here is her message from Myspace

8-22-07
so i got a call from the surgeon today and my surgery has been post poned. this is a good thing i think. i got approved from teh insurance company to had disk replacement instead of the fusion. usually it takes a month to get approved which is why he was gonna do the fusion instead.

since the replacement that he is doing is newer technology it has to get approved to be done in the hospital. community memorial has a board that it has to go through prior to the surgery being done. the earliest that the board will meet is Sept 19th. my surgeon is checking to see if any other hospitals can or will do it soon. so right now the surgery is on hold which means more days of fun pain... but the outcome will be better with the disk replacement instead of the fusion long term...

again will keep ya all posted as i find out more info...

Hopefully they will be able to find a place that will do the surgery sooner rather then later

My husband actually had both! They replaced his disk (and this is usually done with a cadaver bone), and then fused everything with a small plate.

I'm sorry that your SIL has to go through another month of pain, but if it helps with the insurance, then that's okay.

Everything I said still applies. It will go smoothly!

Got info about Melissa (sister in law), surgery tentatively set for Sept. 7th. Will let you know when its confirmed.
