Hey all. I found out last night at like midnite that my best friend had her baby. I think she was a few weeks early but she was still a 4 pound baby so she should be good. YAH!! I am so excited, this particular friend had a miscarriage almost 2 years ago and had to go through all kinds of treatments to get pregnant again. So YAH that she had her baby. And girls are so precious.
Anyways, what are you guys up to today. I am sitting in an English class pretty darned bored. Only about an hour to go so its alright.
Resident Evil, I remember that game. And dont worry about changing my subject because my mind is still all about babies...
BTW, I love the internet. Do you guys have any idea how many long lost friends that I have found through myspace and my Navy website that I was SO sure I would never see again. Its totally awesome
Fairly quiet morning so far that started with a 7 a.m. call from Nick in Australia, who is fine, btw, and likes the job he found. My husband and I are not in the least enthusiastic, to put it mildly, about his choice of work, but what do we know. At least it's legal.
At some point this afternoon I have to take my father out shopping for the party foods for tomorrow, the wine and fruit juice, etc. And our middle son is coming for dinner and to help his dad move a heavy piece of furniture out of the house.
My cousin also had a baby daughter, little Gabriella, on Monday. I just heard this morning. Babies everywhere!! She was induced on her due date for the convenience of her Ob/gyn. No comment on that other than that I am absolutely thrilled that my d-i-l quit going to that particular doctor and opted for a doula and midwives again.
My husband took the day off, we were thinking of going downtown Chicago, but Zach had a field trip. So we didn't pull him out of school for a family excursion and we might not have made it back before he gets out of school.
So it's a day of having my husband bug me around the house. I just can't get anything done when he's home
I should wash floors, but I hate washing floors. I use the old rag and bucket method since mops just kind of push the dirt around.
The weather is great here. Maybe we'll walk up to the park
Oh I hate when OB's do that. I have a friend who is due any day now really after having 2 csections she wants to do the VBAC and cant find a doctor willing to do it. When she was in Groton she had one but her and her hubby moved up to Maine and now cant find one. Its so sad she is so set on having the VBAC..
And I agree, Gabriella is a great name. There are babies everywhere, another good friend of mine had twins a couple weeks ago...also after having fertility problems. Thank goodness for the military paying for all this stuff eh.
Oh and Kae is Nick's blog updated still, does he tlak about his new job? I may have to check it out.
Oh yeah and good call on the internet. I would be SO bored without it
Nick hasn't updated his blog since arriving back in the Brisbane area from Darwin, about 10 days or so ago. They've been pounding the pavement job-hunting and looking for apartments. Nick took on a job that I wouldn't turn over with a long stick I'll try to describe it.
Thoroughbred horse racing is huge in Australia and supports a number of business related to it. Nick took on a commissioned sales job selling some kind of system for analysing race results, and each one costs $25,000.00. That's as far as I got into his explanation before I stumbled into the kitchen to make coffee, leaving my husband on the phone for the rest of it.
Two main problems I have with this is that my mother's family kept stables of race horses when I was growing up and I spent quite a bit of time at the track and the stables. I have absolutely no time for race people. It's a filthy, cutthroat business. I love horses, though.
Second problem I have is wondering what sort of karma will be visited upon my son for dealing with these crazies. Do you know anyone in their right mind that would spend $25,000.00 on some kind of race-related crap? I don't! Apparently there are lots of them in Australia because this company is doing very well. I suppose he'll have to sort that out on his own because he had an answer for every objection I raised. He gave us a website to look up. I haven't done it yet.
Shelly, my d-i-l also has her heart set on VBAC - Vanessa was breach and was delivered with a c-section. The midwives think she'll do just fine this time as all is going well. Many doctors here will support VBAC as long as there aren't any complications, but just as many will immediately book a section at their convenience. What a shame, eh?
Wow is your son adventurous or what, my goodness. You will have to pass along the website. I am curious. And while I dont personally know anyone who would spend so much money, I am sure for someone who has the money to race a horse in say the KY Derby then they might. Crazy.
I just got done watching Y&R, boy was it good.
Yeah its sad that so many doctors wont do the VBAC. My friend Miriam says she did all kinds of research and that the risks are so minimal. I hope she found something, cause she really is due any day now.
Hey Kae how have your parents been? Do they still have the same caretaker, is that going well?
My parents are stumbling from day to day, Tina. Thanks for asking. They are coming over here at 4 today so I can take them shopping for all the party supplies. My dad can still drive in the afternoons when his eyes feel better, and I live only 7 minutes away from them.
I had to fire the live-in girl from Guyana only 2 weeks after she started. Long story, consider yourself spared from it, lol. Then we arranged a series of day helpers all though various government agencies, all paid for by the feds or the province. They have even more options available to help them stay at home that we haven't even explored yet. So we're doing okay-ish most of the time. But I do have to keep a close eye on them all the time.
Mother lost her hearing aid the other day. That was fun. My husband and I tore that house apart from stem to stern looking for it on three separate ocassions, and yesterday it turned up, but my mother couldn't remember where she found it. Darn things cost the earth and are about the size of a man's thumb nail, so not a lot of joy actually losing the thing for good. Stuff like that happens all the time these days. I try to keep a sense of humour about it all.
I just ate some new Triscuit flavour - black peeper and olive oil. Blech, pitooey, yick. Need mouthwash.
