Hey guys, its a new week. Well I suppose that the new week started yesterday but it was Columbus Day so for us it was a long weekend. So now the new week is here and still no one is around. I think we may have reached a whole new level of quietness. What is everyone up to today. The weather here is a bit chilly so I dont know what I will do today. I have an Accounting test but that shouldnt take too long.
We had a long weekend - Thanksgiving. Nine of us gathered here for turkey dinner and I was up to my elbows in food and setting the table, etc. Yesterday I was practically catatonic until about 6 p.m., ran the dishwasher about 5 times to get all the dishes done from Sunday.
Today's rainy and cool, but it's a relief because we had a freak hot spell over the weekend and I can't ever remember having the air conditioner on and a 16 pound turkey roasting in the oven before. It didn't feel like Thanksgiving at all. Last year we had a freakish snow squall the same weekend. Crazy weather.
Right now I'm watching Y&R but I didn't tune it in early enough to do a live recap for you. It's okay-ish, not a great epi.
I can't sit though OLTL these days. If anyone is going to be around for a live post, maybe we ought to try one for the heck of it, get the board back to some activity. Whatcha think? I could do with one of Brandon's signs, lol.
yeah where is everyone?? I find myself going to myspace cuz nobody is here.
The weather has finally cooled off! I'm so glad, it was unbearably hot. We went to an Oktoberfest and you just had to find shade.
Does anyone decorate for Halloween?
I should drag our decorations out
I've been broke so I don't feel like buying any pumpkins.
I bought two books this week from recommendations of Oprah. Eat Love Pray and a cookbook by Jerry Seinfeld's wife. It has recipes that sneak alot of veggies into the kid's diet.
I'm bored and obsessing.
I lost a few pounds but I have to join a gym, I can tell my muscles are not as tight as they were when I was working out regularly! Ugh
I should be back in time for OLTL...I dont watch it much either. Though sadly at that time of day there isnt much else on. But if we are all up for it talking with you guys might make it worth watching. Though I dont know how well I can stand to watch courtroom stuff. Ugh. Thanksgiving huh, sounds like fun. I may have to start collecting recipes for our turkey day. My mom is making the trip out so it will be fun. Y&R not so good eh, blah..I guess the shows are gearing up for sweeps next month. Hopefully things will get better soon.
Shelly, I've cooked about a thousand (it seems) turkeys. If you need any recipe ideas, I'd be happy to help. I've made every mistake in the book, so I'm fairly expert in the task by now.
Tina, we just put out a few jack'o'lanterns for Halloween. Some people around here go nuts but that's not really of interest to me any more. Years ago we'd carve tons of pumpkins and go a little crazy. Now I want to keep it simple.
My little one is dressing up as a pink poodle this year. She LOVES our dogs and when her parents took her to Walmart on Saturday to find a costume and she saw the poodle one, she hugged it, laughing and said "this one, this one!!". I'll try to post a pic of her in it - I have terrible luck posting pictures, but I'll do my best.
Shelly, Y&R was actually quite good, as it turns out. Lots of poignant scenes, so if you can catch it, do.
OH I love to decorate for Halloween. I usually go with some sort of theme, but I've been down in the back lately so I'm so late on starting. I can try to be on for something at OLTL time, but it's not always that easy considering the whole unpredictable baby thing lol. That and Bethany doesn't have school today either.
I started my new job last Wednesday, so things have been busy for me. I am still working a very limited amount for my old job. I'm technically on vacation for them until next Monday, and then I become an ex-employee. I'm double dipping in the salary groupings this week, and part of last week.
I am really enjoying the new job, it is very technically challenging, which is exactly what I wanted. In the last five days I have been researching and learning more about the latest and greatest in the data warehousing industry than I did in the last year at my old job.
The dogs are doing well. I convinced my sister to become my dog walker. I am giving her $25.00 a day to come in and take the girls out in the afternoon. Tess is doing great, she was chasing Dorie around the back yard tonight, which she has not done since we lost Dutchess, so the new addition to the household is working out great. She is also a wonderful girl. Knock on wood, she has not had an accident in the house since she came home from the pound. She loves the fenced in back yard, and thinks that Tess is her mom. Tess is back to her old self, with having Dorie for company. They are great together, which I consider myself blessed about.
Dorie was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico. The shelter up here has an agreement with a rescue agency down there, and the ship them up here to find homes. She is around five months old, and never knew a family or home, prior to coming here. She is a sweet gentle little dog, which is amazing considering her start in life. She picked me out at the pound, and the rest was history. I took Tess with me, and they met. I needed to make sure that they would tolerate each other. Dorie jumped into the back seat on the ride home, I had heart failure. I expected them to start fighting as I was driving down the highway. Instead Dorie curled up next to Tess and fell asleep. The rest is history. Tess doesn't normally like other dogs, so I had to be very cautious.

That's a sweet doggie story, I wish I could be your dog walker!
