hell yes it affects me. I have never been a car person. But I can not go a day with out envying people who dont have to pay 70 bucks to fill up a gas tank that only lasts a week.
I hear you Shelly. I am hating that my husband had to have the Explorer. It's so bad on gas. It's even worse because he works about 40 miles away. So it costs us over 10.00 for him to go there and back each day.
So yeah we're cutting back on the steak and what not. To help with the crunch, I applied as a Special Needs Aid at Bethany's school. Their original aid got a better job, and I just need a few hours a week which makes this perfect for me. I'd only need a sitter for 3 and a half hours a day and 2 days out of the week. My mom said she could probably help out on Mondays. I think I might ask my aunt if she could watch him one day, and then either get a sitter or ask my friend Rainne for help the other day. Who knows. We'll see what happens lol. I don't want to go and start planning, then not get the job.
Im not totally concerned. I am irritated that gas prices have gone up for no other reason then the oil companies want more money. I understood when they skyrocketed because of the hurricane. But when there is no reason I say its time that our useless government steps up and does something about it.
and Brandon, never in my life would I have thought that I would willingly drive a small car. But now I am seriously eyeing the ford focus that is on sale not far from my house. Someone told me they get like 30 something miles to the gallon. I get like 15
I agree, I think that for one of the most powerful countries in the world to be at the mercy of oil companies is rediculous. But you know politicians dont pay to fill up their gas tanks. We do as the tax payers
I am really glad that I traded in my Blazer for my Volvo. My Volvo is a 5 cylinder, and gets around 31 mpg. I travel around 108 miles a day for work.
I recently had a new door installed in my basement, to cut back on energy costs, and I am probably going to get rid of my 80 gallon hot water tank, which is 25 years old, and go with something smaller and energy efficient. All of my appliances are only 3-4 years old, and all energy star approved....
I am actually thrilled that I heat with electricity. I get a reduced rate on my electricity because I am an all electric house, and with electricity, I have thermostats in all of the rooms. I really need to look into having replacement windows installed in the house. My windows are 25 years old, and original to the house. If I can get a descent estimate to replace them, that will be next. My house is 2x6 construction, which makes it very well insulated, but my electric bill has doubled in recent years because of the increase in cost.
My sister has a 3,500+ square foot house. They have a pellet stove installed, and it heats the entire house in the winter, with their pellets costing them around $1,000 for the winter. My boyfriend has just gone out and purchased a pellet stove, his house is 4,000+ square feet.
I believe that everyone is effected by these rising costs, regardless of their income. It is truly insanity. Add fuel cost to how much of our paychecks are going to fund the war in Iraq, through our federal taxes, and the whole situation is rank. That's all I will say on that topic!
