I think we're gong to go to a family from church's house. That way we don't have to worry about sitters and what not. They are having fun and activities for all ages.
We're staying put tonight, watching a couple of movies, have some Australian Chardonnay, and turn in early. We have an invite out to a little party at 10 p.m., but it's probably the last thing I need right now. My husband doesn't mind staying home at all. My dear friend (the shopping expert) called to say she and her husband would drop by for glass of wine around 5 and I ended up coughing and sputtering into the phone and scared her off, lol. We'll have a toast to the New year later when I'm not so toxic.
Anybody seen Rattatouille (sp?) ? We thought we might order that one for tonight, then some oldie for later. Oh, we watched Evan Almighty last night - quite cute. Love Morgan Freeman, so it's hard to go wrong with one of his movies.
My husband and I just rented Ratatouille a couple of weeks ago, and loved it!
We're also planning a quiet evening at home with some dinner, champagne, a fire in the fireplace, and two of our three kids. I thought that our youngest daughter might have plans, but it turns out that she doesn't.
She has introduced us to a very amusing "board" game, although it doesn't use a board, called Apples to Apples. This is a word game, and it can be absolutely hysterical. The more, the merrier too! KaeEll -- I think that you and your gang, all gathered together, would really enjoy this game. A little wine, or other spirits, doesn't hurt either...
Some of you may have played this, but for those who haven't, essentially there is a stack of cards that contain either nouns or proper names (such as George Bush). The other stack of cards contains adjectives.
Each player gets about eight nouns and then the "judge" draws an adjective. The players then choose from their nouns which one best fits the adjective. It can be logical, or it can be outrageous!!! The judge then picks his or her favorite answer.
I can guarantee lots of laughs if you play this game!
(stupid typo)

Oh, that does sound like fun! I'll see if I can find it here, probably through Amazon.com. Thanks for that!
Maybe I should think about getting dressed. It IS, after all, quarter past one. Yipes. Lazy day or what! But first, I have to post Lainey's latest. She has some puzzle denials for us.
No Target in Canada, sad to say. Funny that you'd get me started on that subject, LOL.
When my son and his bride moved back up here from Boston a few years ago, she went on a letter-writing campaign trying to get Target up here. She used to work for Talbots in the real estate department at their head office in some cute little town south of Boston, so she had all the right lingo. Anyway, she did get some hope there for a while but some American fellow bought up our Hudson's Bay Company and that apparently influenced Target's decision NOT to enter the Canadian market. Instead we have this nasty store called Zellers that is supposed to be the equivalent (also owned by the HBC) but it's awful and scuzzy, and I just hate it.
The closest target to us is in Buffalo, an hour and a half away. Three of my friends make regular trips there several times a year for all sorts of things. I used to shop at the Target near my eldest son's school in NH when he was there, got hopelessly hooked on it. I don't know why they will not open a store here because I know it would do a land-office business, but nope. No sale. Grrr.
However, a dear friend right now is at her place in Florida and I will email her today and ask her to bring me Apples to Apples when she comes back on the 18th. I know she won't mind. I'm sure they have a Target in Fort Myers, non?
we are spending the night inside doing who knows what. Where we are in Michigan there is little else besides us for a good 20 miles so we will just stay here. Eating these yummy things called pasties.
Kae, I haven't seen the Ratatoulli or whatever yet. Though we just bought it for my niece and she loved it. Apples to apples sounds like a fun game. We play Scattegories which is super fun.
I have absolutely NO plans. I'm not getting anywhere near the roads. To me, it just seems like the ice and snow we got bombarded with today is not a good combination with all the potential drunks out there.....
I think I'll enjoy a night of board games with Jackson.
