First, I threw my back out. I don't know how, but the pain was excruciating. I nearly passed out from the sheer magnitude of the pain. I had to have Jackson bring me the phone just in case. But, it eventually subsided, after a long hot bath. That's when the plumbing went to hell. I tried to turn the tub faucet off, and it wouldn't shut off. Great. I tried calling all the maintenance people, and finally got the property manager over there, and they called a plumber, who couldn't do anything because he didn't have his damn truck. So, he shut the water off and said he would return Sunday. GREAT. So, now I have no water. It ran for 2 hours straight. That'll be lovely on my water bill.
Anyway, I hope everyone's having a nice relaxing weekend! So much for my plans on renting a carpet cleaner and cleaning the carpets. Damn back!
aww Jojo, when it rains it really pours. That is just terrible. I am about to head to church, my first since before Christmas. I had planned on leaving early so I could make it in time for sunday school but i got a new phone and apparently the alarm was all messed up. I guess I needed the extra hour of sleep since Vinnie had me up at 330 this morning so that he could get to Providence in time for his 6am flight back to GA.
Oh Jojo - so sorry about your lousy Saturday. I understand completely how a bad back can be an enormous pain. I've got one of those tricky backs too. If you don't have a heating pad, get yourself one. Heat makes all the difference in the world!
Shelly, kudos for getting up with Vinnie in the middle of the night! You're a more devoted wife than I am at that hour, lol!
We've been up since 8 having a quiet morning. Ted's watching his (shudder) Sunday morning political TV shows and I had to sit through 45 minutes of Hilary droning on about whatever. In a while, we're heading out to my favourite little flower store to replace the ones I bought for the holidays. We got three whole weeks of enjoyment out of the last batch, and all for $8! Not bad!!
Then we'll pop by our eldest son's house to look at the new fireplace mantel he had installed yesterday in the family room. After that, home to get ready for a medium-size family dinner here with Mike and my parents.
All three doggies are fast asleep beside me. Peace and harmony! Love, love, love it.
well thanks Kae but I didn't have much of a choice. Vinnie volunteered me even though the command he works at has a duty driver. Annoyed me a bit especially since it was super cold this morning. There was frost everywhere and since I had to take him to the airport that meant that poor Jolene had to get up too
EW! Chuck E. Cheese? I hate that place! LOL. Thank goodness we don't have one around here!
Thanks girls...the back is better this morning. Just needed a good rest, I suppose. And I do have a heating pad, I just forgot all about the damn thing! And,the water is now fixed. It never felt so good to brush my teeth!
Shelly, I feel for you having to get you and Jolene up at that hour! What a good wife you are. I would have gave him a kiss, and kicked his butt out of bed and said, see ya later!
Kae, I would LOVE to get some nice flowers and greenery to put in the apartment. Unfortunately, our local nursery had some sort of "greenhouse emergency" and are close until February.
Kae, I nearly forgot. I know how you love all those gossip sites. Well, a friend turned me onto a site, gofugyourself.com, and it's hilarious. It's a blog that makes fun of all the horrid, horrid outfits celebs wear. It's really funny.
eh, Chuck E Cheese isn't so bad as long as you have other adults to talk with. And I had two other couples. So it was okay. The other two couples each have two kids. And they each have a little girl the same age as Jolene. The pizza isn't great but it was a great way for Jolene to expell some of that energy.
Anyways, now I am contemplating a nap. Am still a little tired. Even though I knew we would have to be up before the crack of dawn I didn't get to sleep until after 11 so I am a bit tired.
Chuck E Cheese eh? I've never had the pleasure. The kids have gone, but not me. Lucky me!!
Jojo, the flower place I go to is amazing, but it's a grubby hole in the wall. I got some (about 20) roses for $10, cut them short and put them in a series of julep cups. So pretty. They really cheer the place up.
Now I've got to go do the vegetables for dinner, get gussied up and go to our son's place for a quick visit, cuppa tea. People will be here about 6.
Jojo - love the pictures of the apartment. It's got decent bones, so it'll come together well in time, non?
Yes, I do believe it will come together nicely. I'm waiting to get some more furniture-bookcases, etc, until I get the carpets cleaned. Then it will feel like home!
If anyone else is interested, I have some photos of the apartment and of christmas on myspace. If you can't access myspace, let me know, and I'll put them here too.
I would love to have some roses in here, and putting them in julep glasses sounds really nice. This place needs some greenery and flowers.
Shel, I just can't stand the place! You're right, the pizza is horrible! And the one we had back home was really small, and it was really annoying.
Go and have yourself a nap Shelly! You deserve it.
