A Sunny Tuesday! YAY!

Finally, we have some sunshine.

Boy, it's quiet around here. Hub left for Ottawa on a 7 a.m. flight, so I've been up for hours already. Some time later today I have to take mom to her audiologist (again), then run a couple of errands, stop by for tea with d-i-l, then home again.

What's up with you guys today? Anybody watching the soaps? Anyone sit through the State of the Union speech last night? Ted insisted on watching it, so I did laundry and spared myself the agony.

well my little Jolene has pink eye so we are stuck here today. And last night we took her to the hospital not because it was such an emergency but because I didn't want to have to get up at 630 this morning to find out if the base clinic can see her. And besides the hospital actually has real doctors as oppose to Navy LTs.

So today we are not doing much, I am going to take advantage of having to be stuck at home and get some school work done.

Sounds like a nice break from the bad weather you've been having. Can we fast forward to the end of March now? That'd be great.

That's about the 8th person I've heard of lately coming down with pink eye! Good thing it's just a nuisance and not serious.

Bran, I'd love to fast forward 74 days to the 11th of April when Nick comes back! I have my calendar marked off. It's been a LONG year with him so far away, and now that he and Laura are living in cheaper digs, he doesn't seem to have much internet access, so I hardly ever hear from him. So hard.

Anyway, you've inspired me to go buy a bunch of tulips!

I'm all good with that date. Good times, good times and warmer!

I will be glad as long as we fast forward through my being sick. I just can't take it any more. I am tired of being sick and really tired of sick people. Floyd woke up with a rash all over his down theres and his arms as well and he has been sick too. So of course he had to miss work ... I'm still so sick I haven't had anything really in me other than gatorade and slushie. But I still had to go get birthday stuff for Aiden (didn't mind tha as much it kinda improved my crummy mood) then had to get lamisil for the rash on the ol' man. Of course later last night he decided there was something really wrong and he had to go to the er. Well, Bethany was still borderline sick and coughing so I didn't want to take her with us. cody was starting to feel better, and I wasn't about to take him and risk him getting sick again. Of course Aiden had to come because he's attached at my hip. So we had to go to my mom's and drop off the kids first.

Now mind you Floyd hasn't gotten sick again sinced Saturday night, and he's kept all his food in one place even had enough energy to be a jack ass to Cody for not doing things exactly how he wanted them done, thus waking up Aiden and ruining my chances of a nap.

Anyways we take him to the hospital and apparently it's some kind of allergic reaction. They gave him some pills etc...

So he's miraculously cured today. Which means even though I kept the kids home from school (I'm not about to risk re-infection from school and going through this again.) He has to wake the whole house up because he couldn't find my wallet to get the money for his Rx out of it. Then he calls from the pharmacy ... he forgot his Rx card ... he ended up paying the extra 6 dollars because I wasn't about to look for it. Luckily the pharmacist is a sweety and will reimburse me when I take it up when I feel better.

Then I am almost asleep and he calls again ... I don't even remember what he said (I was cursing him under my breath the whole time) oh and then he does it again .. just to let me know that he's almost to work.

I'm so pooped. I have maybe gotten 6 hours of sleep over the last 5 days ... ehh make that 9. I have already lost 6 lbs and I feel like a balloon that has no air in it. The nerve pills my grammy gave me a while back are calling my name but darn the luck I have to nurse. Honestly though nursing has been rather therapeutic. It really does calm you down.

I guess I can't kill the husband yet. While he lacks the sense to let his wife sleep when she needs it badly, he did at least pick me up a set of fresh linen scented candles and drew me a bath with rose petals in it last night (fake ones but still nice .. which means I get to keep them lol).

Aaaw, Jess, feel better soon.

You know, you can take Bach flower remedies while nursing, and if you have any Rescue Remedy in the house, put 5 or 6 drops in a glass of water and sip on it. It will most definitely calm your nerves. Also, try some lavender oil scents rather than fresh linen for a calming effect. The good French lavender oil is the best. The linen fragrance is more of an invigorating smell, and it is artificial. Nice of Floyd to think of it though. Lots of Brownie points on that one.

We woke up to rain this morning (cozy), but the sun is out now...

We watched the State of the Union last night, and almost fell asleep. It wasn't one of the most dynamic speeches I've ever heard!

As an aside, our son happened to have a day off yesterday. He works on Capitol Hill, but his boss/representative passed away in December, so the staff is in limbo until special elections can be held. They've begun to alternate days off during the week.

So, the day before, knowing that yesterday was his day off, our son got word that Ted Kennedy and Obama were going to be speaking at American University, so he got himself up at 5:30 a.m., took the Metro to the A.U. stop, and even in the wee hours of the morning, there were already two hundred people in line in front of him! Within the next few hours, he said it was a mob behind him...

He ended up getting himself positioned in the center front, and took some video of the event on his cell phone. Obama shook our son's hand after the speech, as he worked his way back out through the crowd.

Our youngest daughter got her picture taken with Obama when he was out in Arizona (so now she has one with Obama, AND with Bill Clinton), our son has met Obama now, but our oldest daughter hasn't met anyone!!! She's a little miffed at her two younger siblings... LOL!

(edited for stupid typo)

Well, don't tell your daughter or son's but Obama was right here in our little town of Taylorville for a whole day (shortly before he announced his bid for Presidency) it was a huge thing. He stuck around and talked with people. Went and ate at the Round table (honestly if the man could hold that stuff down he's totally earned my vote!) He was really personable. It was awesome that he announced his bid in Springfield too. That really was history right there. I still can't believe I missed out on seeing George Clooney (Aaaaahhhhhh) right in Springfield. Matt Damon was there too but my big freak out was George Clooney. I am still seething with envy over Floyd's friends who saw them.

And Kae thanks for the tip. I'll have to run out and grab some of the Bach's I totally forgot about that.

Speaking of candles and scents. I found the most divine smelling candles the other day. They had scents like Key Lime pie, cotton candy, apple pie, and even honey. OH it was all so great.

I really like Obama, I am usually republican at heart but can't seem to get on board with any of the ones running. I took a myspace quiz and it says I should go Obama too. He is actually a friend on my myspace. I figured that would be a good way to learn more

All three of my kids are huge Obama supporters...

My political background is about as complex as my religious background is (LOL), but I was raised in a very politically active neighborhood in Arlington, VA which was inhabited almost entirely by Democrats. In fact, a childhood friend's father was a Texas Congressman who came up here with the LBJ crowd, but the entire neighborhood was surrounded by Members of Congress, State Department officials, Justice Department (my father), CIA, etc., etc.

My father was an Independent, but he tended to vote with the Dems. However, he and a small political group once supported a Republican candidate, got him elected, and then the guy broke every single campaign promise he'd made to them! My father and his friends spent the next twenty years trying to get the guy defeated!!! LOL... His name was Joel Broyhill, and he ended up becoming quite powerful in Congress, and was related to the Broyhill furniture family.

My husband's family, on the other hand, were all Republicans. I'm a bit like my father in that I don't vote by party, but for the candidate. As it happened, I did end up supporting a number of Republicans over the years, and even worked for a couple of Republican Congressmen way back when we were first married, and I was on The Hill for a couple of years. (Most of my childhood friends were horrified, but -- hey -- I needed a job!)

This election is a dilemma for me. I don't like any of the Republicans this time around, and my favorite candidate -- John Edwards -- most likely isn't going to be the Democratic nominee. I like Obama (although I have a few concerns), and I don't like Hillary (never have), but she can be quite charismatic, and there are a few other positives on her side too. I just don't believe her, and I don't like the way that she's brought her husband into the mix. If she's going to be President of the United States, she needs to show us that she can stand on her own two feet without Bill. Been there, done that, and didn't like it the first two times around...!!!

If Hillary and John McCain are the two candidates, I'm going to have a huge problem because I don't like either one! (John McCain went to the same boarding school that my son did, but that doesn't make me like him any more! He scares me...)

If Hillary and Obama deadlock with their delegates, or if everyone begins to show huge disgust with the Bill-and-Hillary Show, maybe John Edwards will still manage to become the front runner. Stranger things have happened!

I like Edwards too, he is also on my friends list. I would love if him and Obama could run together. I think they would be unstoppable
