Cause Of Death For Heath Ledger

In a statement released through Ledger's publicist, Ledger's father, Kim, said Wednesday: "While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage."

So sad. I really hope people especially kids will see this and realize how much care needs to be taken when taking medication. I've read lately that perscription drug usage is rampant with teens stealing meds from their parents. I really hope (but honestly doubt) that this will get a message through to these kids.

Why would such a young and presumably healthy man need so many prescriptions in the first place? It's the medical profession in general that is so stuck on writing prescriptions that needs to be re-educated.

I'm no Tom Cruise, but it's just too easy to treat discomfort with drugs when there really are a host of other things that can be done first. Trouble sleeping? Go work out until you're so tired your body just drops you right off. Aroma therapy is very effective, as are Reiki, acupuncture, reflexology, herbal preparations to name a few.

I don't blame so much the people taking pharmaceuticals as I do the practitioners who rely upon them as the only means of helping someone cope. Certainly there are times when drugs are necessary, but not anywhere near to the extent that so many use them.

Ledgers death was far less an accident than it was murder by prescription. JMHO.

You know and him being in and out of the country and seeing different doctors in different countries didn't help things either. This is rather unfortunate. Just really glad to see that he didn't intentionally do something to himself.

drug companies and the doctors who just want the kickbacks are evil

I don't like taking drugs unless I'm absolutely dying (like therflu)

But in these cases, they get hooked and they trust the doctors. Or perhaps with Britney, she is trusting her new manager, and he's getting her hooked.

Sad!

i can honestly say that this is why I am glad that my doctors are military because they don't get kickbacks from pharmacies. A big reason why they prescribe Motrin for everything, or Vitamin M as we all call it.

So sad, though I agree with Brandon that I am happy to hear it wasn't intentional on his part

We had a similar situation in our neighborhood several years ago, and the victim was an adult woman, a few years younger than I am. She lived across, and down the street from me.

Her best friend was/is another neighbor who's the mother of Arizona-daughter's best friend.

The woman who died, whose name was Jessica (sorry!!!), was grossly overweight, and also had a lot of depression, and other stuff going on in her life (according to my other neighbor). When one doctor refused to prescribe anymore pills for her, she would simply find herself another one, and omit the fact that she was taking a gazillion other prescriptions when asking for the new one. Her husband, other family, and friends (including my other neighbor) begged Jessica to stop the nonsense because they were all terribly concerned about all of these medications...

This becomes a little convoluted, but my next-door-neighbor (who has six grown kids) has a daughter who's married to a police officer. This daughter also used to work as a dispatcher before she had two little boys. It was about noon on a Sunday, and I had stepped outside when I heard Kerry (next door, and also outside) talking frantically on the phone. I then noticed that there were lots of police cars down the hill, and an ambulance parked in front of Jessica's house. Kerry was trying to determine, through her police contacts, what was going on. She started to get a bit upset, and I heard her tell a member of her family, "Oh my God, someone has died!" She said something else on the phone, and then started shrieking, "Oh, my GOD! It's JESSICA!!!"

Everyone sort-of jumped into action; a number of us went charging down the street, and Kerry went over to my other neighbor's house to tell her that her best friend had just passed away!

It turns out that Jessica and her husband had gotten up as usual on Sunday morning, had some breakfast, and then Jessica went back up to their bedroom to read, or something. She was sitting in a chair, and simply passed away from an overdose of whatever combination of stuff she was taking.

It was all really awful because my youngest daughter knew her well; Jessica and my other neighbor, my daughter, and my neighbor's daughter were together frequently (two sets of best friends). My neighbor told me that she always felt that something like this would happen. And, it did...

That's just so tragic. You know, a lot of people think that pills are the only way to fix their problems. It's just horrible because they think that if something is not working they have to find antoher pill that's better, stronger, or will make thigns all better. It's a shame because a lot of my generation were raised with that mentality. I think a few people are starting to finally get it now, but I know when I was young the doctors gave my mom pills for me for every little sniffle and cold. Come to find out I needed to have my tonsils and adenoids out. We went through 2 years of drugging more or less to fix soemthing that medication could never help.

I'm very glad I've been introduced to the homeopathic side of medicine (thanks Kae). I've noticed that many times if Bethany is sick and I use a little bit of aromatherapy to ease her symptoms the illness will go away just as quickly if not faster than if I had taken her to the doctor for medicine. I will admit though that I am still quick to grab the nausea pills when I'm sick to my stomach. It's such a habit from pregnancy I think. At the same time though my doc was good about only perscribing mild meds for me and I love that I can call him up and still get them.

Anyways I'm very sorry to hear about your neighbor Moore. I'm very very very happy that it was accidental. We all know why.

Also speaking of drugging. Have you all heard about the Sam Lutfi drugging Brit stuff. Oddly enough it kinda clicks. Very creepy he's always seemed weird. He also has a lot of restraining orders against him.

Sorry to hear of the tragedy at the neighbour's, Moore. Very sad indeed, as was Heath Ledger's death.

Jess, you're right about the generation raised believing in drugs, but we also have to look at the reasons behind that. That dependence didn't develop in a vacuum. I wonder what organisations would profit from that.

Energy medicine is beginning to receive mainstream scientific recognition. In fact, the backlash has already started as many homeopathic polycrest remedies have been banned because they are "poisonous". Interesting that the very people who deny that energy medicine is effective because the amount of active "substance" in the remedies is below Avogadro's number (no molecules left of the substance at all in the remedy) are saying these very remedies can be harmful. Ridiculous, of course. Somebody is afraid that their cash cow might be in for a little bit of a tumble. And yet again, it's all about monetary profit.

One of the best medicines ever invented (aspirin) has the same basic properties as willow bark!

It's very tragic that such a talented and apparently very nice young man would die in the prime of his life, and leave a young daughter behind. People really do need to pay very close attention to what they're taking, and how it interacts with other medications. Popping an assortment of pills, even when they may be medically justified on occasion, doesn't fix anything!

The thing that also really upsets me -- much more so recently -- is that the FDA is rushing new medicines to the shelf before they've been properly tested. There was a time when the FDA seemed to have far stricter regulations, but now the drug companies are pushing their products for quick approval. And, people are dying while these drug companies know full well that their medicines aren't safe!

A well-known, prolific writer on natural health wrote this piece a couple of years ago. Moore, if you are enraged now, read this article and you'll be even more so.

I've been an advocate of natural remedies for a long time, and now the pharmaceutical companies are getting away with what has been most feared by others like me - our remedies are indeed becoming harder and harder to find, and alternative health treatments are roundly discredited by specious arguments that rely on scare tactics, and guess what? It's working. The big money guys are getting their way and nobody is stopping them. Homeopathic and herbal remedies can not be patented and are very inexpensive. Other alternative treatments have no upside for those selling drugs.

The first documented use of "Aspirin" was by Hippocrates in 400BC when he made a tea from willow leaves and gave it to women for child birth discomfort. It wasn't until 1823 that Italian chemists extracted the active ingredient in willow and named it salicin. The rest is history.

I learn SO much with having you guys as friends. and Kae I will have you know that today is day 2 of my milk thistle and day 2 with no bubbly drinks. No soda and no soda water. YAH me

And Jess I had heard that Lufti had the restraining orders just hadn't heard the details of why. I always knew he was horrible and am really glad that custody of her best interests went to the man who almost never speaks to the press.

I have read about 3 reasons so far but apparently there are more. One was for a former girlfriend to whom he owed money and then started harassing. One man has one against him for harassment at his home and publishing nude pics of him and a whole assortment of horrible things, and the last I think is for something to do with a business partner.

Anyways speaking of remedies and homeopathy, I'm feeling really crummy with a scratchy throat. Any ideas.

Jess, 2 of my kids have always been really susceptible to sore throats and all that comes along with it, and I've used belladonna 30C with great results. I'd put two pellets on their tongue, clean mouth (no food or drink for half an hour) then follow 10 minutes later with cool spring water.

Both kids actually used to get quinsy - nasty affliction that required a surgical lancing at emergency, and the belladonna stopped the throat ailments cold. Just my experience, though.

Let me add that at a 30C potency, there are no molecules of belladonna in the pellets, just the energy imprint of the plant.

There is also a lovely little remedy for cranky babies, if interested.
