Saturday

It's been kind of a rocky week. Between a back yard propane fire (no one hurt, just huge mess) and a couple of "kids" who won't take advice, I feel pretty blech. And still no sunshine. Weather guy was talking about how we've had so many fewer hours of sunlight this winter than usual and how it affects us emotionally. I believe!

Mike got himself a cheap plane ticket to LA for reading week (the 17th to 25th) and he's going surfing in Malibu to catch some rays. Oh, how I wish... It was only $380!! And he found an inexpensive hostel right on the beach itself too. Just thinking about it makes me feel better.

What's up with all of you this weekend?

Not a whole lot. We're going to a birhtday party today at about 4. I really wasn't in the mood, but my mom really wanted me to go so I coudl use the van to take everyone. Tomorrow is the big party. Aiden's very first Birthday party. We're doing it all at my mom's. She really enjoys doing stuff like that. WE had Behtany's firsth Birthday there and it was so beautiful. It was July and she has a gorgeous rose bush (thanks to my step dad lol) that clims up a little trellace thing. Anyways we put her table with presents and cake right in front of it. It was beautiful. No such luck with this party lol. It's going to have to be inside. Much too cold. We got one of those wonderful arctic blasts from our neightbors up north.

Aiden is already feeling better. He woke up with a huge smile today and playing. We got new tubing for his nebulizer and instead of putting the medicine in it I brewed up some lavendar oil and water and put it in the thing. He's a totally new baby. Now if I could just find something for energy to concoct for me.

Hi everyone!

Kae, I think you are right. No sunshine makes for worse moods. I was reading an article about how here we have had so much less sunlight and so much more snow than usual for January. Blech.

I've already been to the grocery store today, and I need to make some phone calls, but other than that, today is a lazy day.

I also cut Jackson's hair this morning, and I'm getting ready for the start of the NASCAR season tonight with the Bud Shootout.I'm so excited.

Sorry for the crappy week, Kae, and for having all your energy zapped out Jess. But woohoo for Aiden's birthday party!

Will you be seeing Mike soon? What kind of advice aren't they taking? Kids!

Just got back from errands. Yep, I'll see Mike on next Sunday mid-afternoon, feed him, drive to airport for an 8 o'clock flight to LA. Tina, we see Mike all the time - he lives in Toronto now - he's at U of T in a phd programme, teaches Spanish, lives just off campus. It's Nick that's been in Oz for a year almost, due back in April in 61 days. Tony, eldest, is the guy with 2 kids and they were here for lunch today before heading out for Vanessa's first day of skiing. Tony lives 10 away by car, so I see them ALL the time.

Advice not being taken? Argh. It's all about Montessori versus common sense. My son and his wife are doing everything the hard way. It's so hard to watch. There's a major issue also developing with the almost 3 year old girl who isn't responding very well to having been dethroned by the arrival of a baby brother. Not at all. Imagine the worst possible, that's what's happening. It's textbook child psych.

I guess I was lucky my 3 year old did very well when his sister came. And my oldest did well when the Zach came. We always tried to give all kinds of extra attention to them. Seems like it's worse now, they're all old enough to bicker over toys and such.

Yeah we were lucky too. Bethany was happy to have a baby brother, but I think that kind of runs in the genes. I was litttle and constantly begged for a baby brother or sister. Even named my favorite dolly Baby Sister. Bethany is constantly talking about her sisters though I think that she is referring to her friends at school. She wants lots of brothers and sisters ... I'm not so sure I'm keen on the idea lol.
