BTW today is . . . . . Holy Experiment Day. I figured I'd try to post the daily holiday or observance from now on kinda a fun lil thing.

Tuesday, March 4

My Nick will be home in 38 days! He's scuba diving this week on the Great Barrier Reef - with sharks.

More contractor delays. What irony to have Nick come home after a whole year away to his living zone all ripped up. That wasn't the plan. Gah.

Quiet day here until 4, then lots of activity. Last night I finally had my husband go through hundreds of old books to give away. The mould and dust filled my head with sneezy yuck, but after all these years we now are rid of the old university paperbacks. My house feels a million years younger.

What's up today, kids?

Jess, if you can merge the daily thread I started (and had to leave part way through to make Ted breakfast, so I didn't see this), please do!

Today I am super tired. I wish I was better at taking my vitamins because I suspect if I was I wouldn't be so tired all the time. Anyways, the sun is shining here, kids at daycare even went walking outside. Its nice. If I didn't have this big blister on my foot from walking yesterday I would go walking again. As it is I have another gym date and need to get the blister under control by then. I am going to try and be good with my diet this week.

Kae I am about out of my milk thistle. Need to go find some more. Ugh, don't look forward to that. Im watching Rachael Ray and she made something with risotto and pesto and it looks really good.

Thanks, Jess!

Oh, Shelly, I wish I could just mail some milk thistle down to you, but customs has gone crazy and the last time I ordered a homeopathic remedy from the USA, it took 9 months to get to me. Chances are the milk thistle would fall under 'suspicious" category too.

My d-i-l called to tell me that she has enrolled Vanessa in ballet classes! I found the Capezio online store for her so she can order all the cute little leotards and slippers. She starts April 1. Too bad the classes are at 9 a.m. Saturdays - no way am I going out at near dawn on a weekend morning, lol.

Anyway, she told me that since taking the Chamomilla Vulgaris in 30 CH, Vanessa has been 100% better with her tantrums and outbursts! What a huge relief for all of us. I had suggested that remedy to them months ago, but it wasn't until they were at their wits end before she asked me for it. So simple, yet getting one's head wrapped around an alternative med is a big step for some people.

Y&R on now! If it's a good one, shall report.

Anyone got some real good way of getting rid of chest congestion and finishing off this damned cold I've had? Anyone? LOL

I need to make a trip to Springfield to get some of my herbal goodness ... that sounds so bad lol. There's a store my dad told me about that is more budget friendly up there. I can totally see why. The place in town at which I've been buying all my stuff is renting from the most unbelievably expensive land lords in town. SUch a shame really. I'd rather give money back to my home town, but unfortunately with all of the current crazy costs that's just so unrealistic.

Have you tried going into your bathroom, closing the door, and turning the shower on as hot as possible and sitting there. I know that a lot of people say that helps.

Bran I use sudafed when I'm really stuffed up and a vaporizor at night

It's very windy here, I had some errands to run but cut them in half. I'm so tired of Winter!

I have a bunch of books to read. I got from Alanon and the library.

I hope to see a psychologist soon.

I've been praying lots.

I don't know which way is up anymore, so God's will be done, I'm putting this situation in His hands.

Bran, for a good homeopathic remedy, you'd have to describe the exact nature of the congestion, whether it's a dry hack or a productive cough, whether it's painful, sticky, whether the phlegm is hard to cough up, all sorts of lovely details, etc. Since you're on the mend, the remedies wouldn't be all that great. Best to take them at first sign of the bug.

Meantime, try inhaling the fumes of heated eucalyptus oil. Drink plenty of hot black (orange pekoe) tea with honey, no milk. Don't use that honey from plastic squeeze bottles but a good quality unpasteurized honey available at health stores. You can toss in a thin slice of lemon too, if you like it.

Stay away from ALL over the counter "cold remedies". All they do is suppress the symptoms, make you think you're getting better, but in fact actually draw out the healing. I know it's tempting to use them, but you're really not doing yourself any favours. Quite the contrary.

Sometimes having a cold is good for you. Healthy people can get up to four a year. Did you know that in mental loonie bins, people almost NEVER come down with flu or colds? Their bodies are too busy being mentally ill and that's the deepest form of dis-ease.

Aha. Eucalyptus that will do good. I'm not a fan of hot black tea but hot peppermint tea has made things much more productive. Sucks, I thought it was sinus for nearly a week and a half and turns out to be chest congestion But at least I'm better.

Kae .... I'm depressed now. I've only had that one cold this year. I guess it confirms what we already knew. I'm a fruit!!!

Aw, thanks guys. I've just been on the planet a "little" longer that you guys and you pick things up along the way, lol.

Just got back from picking up my friend, Christine, the one who'd been in Manchester, and we went for tea to Tony's where she had left her car while away to keep it from one of her sons. That was fun!!

While she was away, that one son, the kid who likes to help himself to her car, was hired by Marc Jacobs as a model. The same Marc Jacobs who insisted Posh remove her concrete tits! He's a U 0f T student and was hanging around the Vuitton store when spotted by a scout. She doesn't know what to think about that, lol. On the one hand, it's great money, on the other, not exactly the life she had hoped for for her baby.

Flicked on OLTL. Can someone tell me why Dorian and Nora were all wet, please?

If it's any consolation, Jess, I don't get colds that often either, lol.

There must be something in the water lately, KaeEll. It sounds like my daughter's boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend, but still friend) who finally caved, and signed with Ford. I think in these situations, one has to strike while the iron is hot!

As far as OLTL is concerned, the sprinkler systems went off because Dorian and Nora were burning an incriminating security tape which showed their involvement with breaking into that "secrets" box. The fire in the trashcan set off the sprinkler system.

I thought of your daughter, Moore, when Christine told me about her son. I remembered that her then bf had been approached as well. I suppose if it's just a temporary deal and just for the money, it's an okay pursuit. These models have a fifteen minute thing going on until they're no longer the "face" and it's all over. It's a rarity to have a long career in that field. But hey, go for it for the time being. As long as it doesn't distract the kids from a more meaningful career down the way, as long as they realise that it's a lark, and not some kind of "calling", all should be fine.

Oh, thanks for filling me in on OLTL. I had to shut it off when Todd was pounding the daylights out of Marco.
