Sunny warm Tuesday

Here's me sitting waiting for the plumbers again, this time to fix the shower that won't drain in the new bathroom. No comment.

The sun is shining today, birds twittering away and we're supposed to go all the way up to 20 degrees today, room temperature!! I might even be able to turn off the furnace for a few hours!

Nick's sleeping, Ted's long gone. The one plumber did turn up at 8 and realised he'd left his snake back at the shop.

My 3 sons are all leaving Friday morning together to fly to California for some skiing and snowboarding at Tahoe, probably Squaw Valley where Ted and I used to have a chalet when we lived in The Bay area. Tony (the married one with the kiddies) has some work stuff in Sacramento, so they decided to make a mini holiday out of it, not that Nick actually needs yet another one. I think they're coming back Monday night.

So what's up for today? Anyone going to watch soaps? I'm looking forward to Y&R.

Y&R is getting pretty good. Kae did you watch your yesterday (my today) show? I am curious how this Gloria thing panned out.

Im not doing much, have my follow up from my surgery and am hoping that whatever he stuck up there after the surgery he can take out today. Then I will be able to breathe. Hopefully after today I will be allowed to blow my nose too.

Doing a bunch of laundry because I am heading down to Va Beach on Thursday to watch my niece after her surgery. Not much else going on. Watching Dr Phil in hopes that he comments about his actions regarding the ring leader of the girl fight video....Though I know that this show was filmed before anythign happened. Maybe the ladies on the View will bring it up.

My diet has been really slacking, I think I may go to the health store that I found in RI and get some more milk thistle.

I'm just having "one of those days" every little thing seems to be going wrong.

And I always think of the man that wrote "don't sweat the small stuff" and it annoys me.

Does he not realize that at some point it's the straw that broke the camel's back?

A day filled with all those irritating problems that, what can happen will happen.

One example, I bought something at Target which I had spent several minutes deciding on. All the boxes were identical except for number of ounces. So I got the one with more.

Then realized later it was not the exact product I wanted. I went back, luckily I was out and about anyway, and saw that every box on the shelf was identical except for one ingredient. So someone needs to organize that.
I told the clerk, and she looked like she could care less!

Also went to pick up my husband's guitar from the shop, out of my way, and they only take cash! Argh! Now we have to go back, with cash.

Later today I have to get the kids ID's for the water park we joined. I don't feel like that whole hassle, they need proof of residency for each child. Like the kids actually get mail! What a pain.

Otherwise it is sunny, but chilly yet.

KaeEll, I think that death by drowing might be an appropriate end to your plumbing crew! I hope that they're not charging you for time spent travelling, as a result of their own stupidity.

Today is gorgeous. It's a little bit cool, but very sunny, and spring-like. My husband hopes to come home a few hours early today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I just got back about thirty minutes ago from having lunch at a favorite little French bistro with my former school roommate who lives in our area. It was a light lunch, but quite lovely. I had a glass of wine, a crab quiche, and a delicious salad with mustard vinaigrette. Kathy had a flounder filet with a gorgeous sauce, pretty veggies, and then she had raspberries with creme caramel, all surrounded with a warm caramel sauce for dessert. I had a bite, and it was YUMMY!

Now, with the sunshine, the spring air, the good food, and the wine, I'm feeling both serene, and sleepy... Very much NOT in the mood to deal with pesky posters in the other location, so I decided to stop by here instead!

Oh Tina, I sympathise. My husband brought home last night one of those BS power point presentations done by some overpaid ninny on the dilemma of choices. The guy's point was that with too many product choices everywhere, if we're the type of person to "maximize", that is to research all the possibilities before selecting something, and it doesn't turn out as anticipated, disappoints us somehow, we feel remorse. And remorse compounded leads to depression. Whatever. In this crazed consumer society we live in, it's bound to happen, even to the least discerning of us.

I don't think the cave men had dilemmas of choices, lol. Now even the kind of washing up kitchen soap is a banquet of possibilities. Or for that matter, the type of car we choose. One of my kids told me that my car, a Buick, is "an old lady car". I asked how on earth it could be considered THAT, and he said it's the stigma attached to it. Huh? This from a kid driving an 11 year old Toyota Corolla, lol. He said I need to buy a hybrid to be "cool". As if!

See what I mean?

Yes that is a good point kae, there are too many choices. I have been looking for some new stuff for my face. I had a bad break out on my chin.

I'd been using some great stuff and was break out free for TWO whole years! But then in January, I broke out and it won't stop.

So I have no idea what happened. Someone said maybe I got immune to the product that I liked so much.

I bought something with sulfur today, because nothing else is working on me.

Could just be stress though. Go figure.

I guess in general I try to choose natural and dye-free products.

Moore what kind of restaurant did you go to? I don't believe we have anything like that for miles! I'd have to drive to Oakbrook (a posh suburb of Chicago).

Moore, I missed your post - must have been posting at the same time. Lunch sounded yummy. I love crab but it give me hives! Damn!!

Hub's going to be at the subway station in 5 minutes, so I have to go.

I'm sorry about your allergy to crab, KaeEll. I adore crab, and in this area (not so far from the Chesapeake Bay), crab is worshipped! LOL...

The restaurant is a little French bistro, Tina, called La Cote d'Or (gold coast). It's actually two little restaurants attached to each other, with similar menus. We ate at the Bistro part. (These menus don't include the daily specials, of course...)

Sooo tired. Tuesday was a busy day. Went around looking into some where to work nights and weekends. I'm tired of being home all the time. Of course the hub wanted to be out and about all day long literally. So by the end of the day I was exhauseted.

Still am today. I wasn't supposed to have Phoenix until 1 but now I have her at 9. Wish I had known that, more in advance but oh well. I guess her mom traded shifts with someone. I hate to say this about my friend but she's the worst to sit for. The little girl is great, but she's never here when she says she will be to pick the little one up. She's been getting stuck at work longer which means I have her daughter longer during the day, but I'm not getting paid much at all. Grr it's almost not worth it, but I'll just persevere ... for now lol.

I am going to be lazy and not open another thread for our daily discussion. Doesn't seem like anyone is up to posting much anyways.

Jessica I hope that you can find a better medium with your babysitting gig. It doesn't sound like you have gotten comfortable with the job yet.

Tomorrow I will be heading down to VA for the weekend. My niece was suppose to have surgery but she had an appointment yesterday and it turns out she has an ear infection. So they won't operate on her ears now. But I am still going. Haven't seen my sister since Christmas...

What are you all up to today, the weather here in Connecticut is absolutely beautiful and I guess most schools in the area are on spring break because we are crazy busy.

Yes, Jess, what Shelly said about your babysitting the little girl Up here babysitters charge $12/hour. I hope you're getting the equivalent. It's a huge responsibility and worth much more, if you ask me. The mother is entrusting her CHILD to another person for a period of time. Isn't that worth at least the $12?

I'm in a strange funk today. I need to get over to my parents and the strain of that is beginning to get me down. Neither of them is well, and they keep their house so hot I almost feel like throwing up after half an hour.

Ted's off to some Harvard Club dinner tonight that I didn't feel like attending with him. It's at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, and I usually love going there, but the idea of mingling with strangers, making small talk, then sitting through a presentation on financial planning (so you could endow the university regularly, of course) just left me flat. Ugh. This is the time of year Harvard (and all the other schools, I imagine) pull out all the stops to extract money from the alumni. The wine and dine you for free, then expect a few thousand at least, every year, for their efforts.

Who knows if Nick will be around for dinner. He's still in bed, and it's 2:30. I thought he was over the jet lag, apparently not.

Shelly, what kind of surgery does your niece need?

Have a safe trip to Virginia. Is Vinnie going as well?

She has a hole in her ear. So they will be going to fix it. My sister said something about them taking some part from behind her ear or something...I get confused by the whole thing. I haven't packed yet but its only a few days and I did get laundry done last night. So really all I have to do is throw a bag together.

Vinnie will be staying home, he has been working on this one boat and the hours have been insane. I don't imagine I will be seeing him very much until he goes on his little cruise in July. He has been working 15+ hours...Blech

I sure hope for your sake that Nick gets over his jet lag soon...Don't you wish he knew that sleeping all day isn't the way to make the lag go away
