It's a bright but still nippy morning here, the beginning of a really busy day. Ted's gone off to do the heavy shopping (tins of apple juice, bags of milk, that kind of stuff), and then we're off to Lowe's to get a new picnic table that folds into a bench. Afterwards, we're heading to the nursery for some flowers, the butcher shop, and finally Home Depot for another kind of picnic table. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Ted's got to take the van loaded with crap to the environment day, a drop off of recyclables, as he clears out the garage of his "treasures".
Tony and Karin are going to borrow the van later today as they found a bedroom suite for Vanessa on Craig's List, for FREE!! As much as I hate that darn minivan, it sure has come in handy!
Mike's safely in Belfort, France, at an international music festival. He e mailed to say that they are being treated like royalty, fed three times a day at sumptuous buffets, and housed in a cozy and charming inn, all compliments of the organisers. Next week he's headed for a 2 week stay on Lake Geneva, work related. Oh, and that liter bottle of maple syrup he took for his hosts arrived without incident. I was a little worried about that since he packed it in the same duffel as his extra hard drive. Gah!
Nick's back from Muskoka with the sad news that water levels are so high in Lake Joseph that the boat house is half underwater. Not only could they not bring the cottage boats back from the marina, they were unable to access the dock furniture, most of which would likely have been ruined. Too much snow this past winter!
Not much today. I think I will head out to Home Depot to see about getting something to start making my yard look prettier. I want green grass. The sun is shining here too, haven't been outside yet so I am not sure how chilly it is.
Anyways, we really dont have any plans. Kae I am happy to hear that Mike made it to his destination safe and sound and that Nick is too.
Thats a good deal about craigslist. I need to look on there more often
I need to go to home depot, but it's bad enough having to go to the grocery store in this snow. I don't even want to leave the house. It's cold, wet, and I'll have to shovel the patio to get downstairs safely. I guess Home Depot will have to wait. My other plans for today just include cleaning the house and watching the NASCAR race.
I'm very jealous of Mike's trip to France! Sounds lovely! But boo for the lake situation!
I've never been to Craigslist. Is it a good place to find stuff?
Kae, why so many picnic tables. I'd love to be in France too, what type of group organized this?
we should hit Menards today to finish up some backyard projects, but we stayed out a bit late at the casino and we were waiting for a stupid drawing to see if we might have won some cash, but we didn't and we are both too tired - feeling old!
Feels like Spring, Zach won his soccer game too!
Tomorrow will be crazy, breakfast with my mom, church, communion party, then cake with mother in law....
Party tonight for my son Ryan, band awards. Can't wait, we never get to do anything with Ryan anymore, he's 14 and always off with his friends.
blech on the snow. How long does the snow usually last where you are Jojo. Middle of May this is crazy.
We went to home depot but didnt actually get anything. I still need to decide what to do with my flowers. I think I may do a box and just leave the feeders on the inside. I mey even invest in some kind of bath or other ceramic thing to put in the middle.
Ack! Snow in May! Jojo, you poor girl. That's as bad as living in Gander or Tuk.
Tina, there are 10 of us, just family, now. When I have to cook for that many, we often include some friends as well. We had three tables for the back yard, got rid of two yucky ones this morning, needed to replace them.
We ran out of steam, never made it to Home Depot today for the 6 foot table, but I think Ted will go tomorrow morning.
Mike's at the FIMU festival in Belfort, eastern France, near the Swiss and German borders. I'll post the website for you. His group is the csfield trio, in the Musique Nouvelle category.
Well, I'm told the snow will visit us some more, perhaps this month, maybe June, maybe even July. I was told that a few years ago 4th of July here was ruined by a rather nasty blizzard. So I'm afraid I haven't seen the last of it.
