Those are lovely, Shelly. Thanks for sharing. You and Sharon have the same smile - small wonder, huh? Jolene is 3 1/2? Will be 4 in September? She's doing really well swimming!!

Have to mention something about Navy housing and those dratted chain link fences. As nice as the houses look, it would be so much nicer for everybody if hey didn't put up those fences and instead either let the yards all blend into one another or used wooden fences for property delineation, because they sure didn't put up the chain fences for privacy!!

Chain fences always remind me of third world countries or people who have immigrated here from communist ones. We had neighbours a long while back from Serbia, and the first thing they did when they bought the house behind us was to throw up a mess of chain link. It didn't do a darn thing except create an eyesore. It did stop the kids from crossing over to friends' houses though. Personally, I love hedges. Just my unsolicited 2 cents.

the chain link fence isn't pretty but its nice to be able to sit at the patio and let Jolene play without her being able to run off. And if we ever get a dog it will be nice to have a yard with a fence. Our other house had the open area with no fence. Its not bad but the fence does create a little safety.

And yes Jolene is about 3 and 1/2, will be 4 in October. And she is swimming with one of those suits with the floaties built in. So she isn't floating on her own but she is still getting around the pool pretty well. She starts lessons next week

Safety's the one real consideration I forgot about. That's a really valid point! Ted wove chicken wire through our cedar hedges to keep doggies from scampering through. It was a nasty, arduous chore, but it's invisible and does the trick. Unfortunately, as the hedges grow, they carry the chicken wire with them, so now there's a 4" gap at the bottom and Champ (the little Maltese) can shimmy through again. He hasn't figured it out yet, thank goodness, lol.

I must tell my d-i-l about the floaties. Vanessa is taking swimming lessons but still freaks if she has to submerge. She turned 3 in April.

Awww. Love the pictures, Shelly! I was very proud of you in that gown...

One of our neighbors planted ivy at the base of their fence which was chain link, and let the ivy grow up, and through it. It almost looks like a hedge now, although ivy is beastly to try to keep under control. Love the way it looks, though.
