I use lots of aromatic oils, satsuma is one of my favourites (tangerine smell), and cinnamon sticks in the oven with a few cloves and star anise as well. It covers up all kinds of kitchen smells like garlic and fish.
Lavender is a relaxation aroma, so I have used that in the bathroom for a shower (don't like baths) and my Reiki therapist supplies me with the most wonderful lavender oil she gets from France. It's pure and absolutely dreamy. Eucalyptus is great for clearing up stuffy sinuses and noses. Since I'm allergic to my Maltese, I use that one a lot, lol.
My favourite perfume in the whole world is also from France called Green Violets (Verte Violette). I have about two squirts left and don't know how I'll ever find anything like it here.
Then of course, there's Fabuloso! Try it Tina!! If you're lucky to find the turquoise, that would be my first choice. I'm quite sure it's not an environmentally friendly cleaner, but that smell makes up for it. *snort*
KaeEll, I did a little internet search for Verte Violette. It turns out that it's manufactured by L'Artisan, and there's a website:
http://www.artisanparfumeur.com
You can buy it online (and a general internet search will turn up other internet locations, but I thought that it might be better to purchase it from the main company), and also it's apparently sold at NOOR at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto, 21 Avenue Road, Lower Level, 416-928-0700.
I hope this helps. I know what it's like to have a perfume discontinued, or become difficult to find! Been there...

OMG, Moore, a million thank you's!!! That hotel is on my beaten path. I had NO idea I could get it here so easily. Hugs, happy dance, hugs, happy dance. hugs!!!! YIPPEE, YIPPEE, YIPPEE!! I will continue to "smell like a flower" as Vanessa says. (And that's a lot better than smelling like lemon pledge which I did for years pre cleaning lady.)
I'm very difficult when it comes to perfumes because they tend to "turn" on me. Perfumes that smell nice on others become so strong on me, or shift in fragrance to such a degree, that I have to shower them off. My family knows NOT to try to surprise me with a new scent.
However, when our youngest daughter was in France several years ago (during spring break), she took a chance and bought me some eau de toilette (my preferred strength). It's called "Eau des 4 Reines". It's wonderful; it just smells fresh and clean, and it didn't go nasty on me! I was so happy, but didn't think that I could find it again until I realized that it's made by L'Occitane, and there's a store not far from me. Happy camper!
There's another discontinued perfume that I know I can get online ("Pavlova") that I used to wear all the time, and loved because it's very powdery, and not too strong. I haven't bothered to order it yet, though...
I have a couple of other favorites, and they're more easily found!
Anyway, I'm glad that you're happy now!

Do you remember that Estee Lauder Youth Dew that was soooo popular a thousand years ago? Gah. I can't believe I actually liked it, lol. Then there was YSL's Poison during the 80's. My neighbour who took up real estate sales (major ugh from me) used it. We car pooled and when she drove my kids around, they'd come home smelling of it. I wanted to take Ajax to them. Shalimar, White Shoulders, Balanciaga's Coriander? All those had been on my perfume tray at some point. I can't believe I actually loved those. How we change!!
Moore, my little mother has the same problem with fragrances. She can put on a lovely dusty light cologne and it'll smell like she just showered with dead rats. She wears Clinique's Happy now. It's fruity and light, very youthful, but on her it's just right.
I can't wait to go to the Four Seasons and get my scent. Thanks again, Moore. :)
there was a scent I wore in college that I loved, then smelled it on someone else and though OMG how obnoxious.
Not sure if she just over-dosed, but it was awful.
I'm a one or two squirt kind of person.
I was watching the Rosie Odonnell show one time and she used about 16 or more squirts of Clinique Happy! Unbelievable. I think people kept telling her it was way too much.
Can you imagine! You wouldn't be able to breath around her!
