Hot and sticky Sunday

We Canadians gripe all winter about how long, dark and cold it is and then the minute we get some hot weather, the griping starts all over again, lol. It's the national pastime. Anyway, it's another scorcher here today.

Ted and I went out to Marilyn's for a lovely dinner last night, sat out under the stars in her beautiful garden until about 10. Lots of mosquitoes. When we got home, I flipped on the TV and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was on. Fun movie. Old, but fun.

Okay, here comes THE spoiler for the Sex and the City movie if you want it. After two glasses of wine, Marilyn spilled, LOL!! Scroll down.....

Carrie and Big do finally get married, in city hall. He gets cold feet for the big hoopla and leaves her standing at the altar. They later make up and tie the knot in a very simple, small civil ceremony. And no, she doesn't wear her designer wedding dress for the city hall event. I asked. :)

Its hot and sticky here too, in fact in a little bit I will take Jolene to a friends house for an afternoon in the pool. My computer says that its 81 out there, it feels like it too. Crazy.

Yesterday and today have felt like the weather we normally have here in August! It has been outrageously hot with the accompanying humidity to go along with it. Crazy weather. We had an abnormally cool spring up until now, and it's suddenly turned hotter than normal.

Consequently, it has been a lazy day with absolutely no work being done outside whatsoever; the neighborhood is very quiet without the occasional sounds of neighbors outside, going about their usual weekend chores or socializing.

Jim and I have primarily been reading, but also playing with our new toys, the anniversary Kindles. I keep thanking him for mine, and he keeps thanking me for his! LOL...!!! Otherwise, Jim's in the process of reading the Anne Perry I just completed, and he's really enjoying it. I'm now into the Grisham novel, and it's his usual formula, which I happen to love: underdog fights evil corporation. Great fun! I love Grisham because of his sense of humor. He makes me laugh several times in each chapter.

That's about it. Nothing fancy planned for dinner. Just flank steak, some new potatoes, and a salad...

OH WAIT -- KaeEll -- my youngest daughter apparently has her OWN stalker! She hangs out at a favorite small boutique-style coffee shop close to where the family she nannies for lives. I think that it may be on the route home for her. She loves the place, and goes almost on a daily basis. Apparently, some creepy guy who works there has decided that he has a thing for her. He left a note on her car that expressed some interest, and appeared to be rather sweet. At first. Not wanting to hurt the guy's feelings, she thanked him, and somewhere along the way he began to text her. Again, at first, she thought that he was just being a friend until he suddenly told her, just out of the blue, that he wanted to "make love" to her! It really creeped her out because she was not only shocked that this guy (about her own age) who'd been serving her coffee for months suddenly said that to her, but the terminology (make love) made her think that he was imagining some emotional connection.

Fortunately, he doesn't know her last name, he doesn't know where she lives, and he doesn't know where she works. She was smart enough to tell the coffee shop owner what had transpired, and that he was making her feel very uncomfortable. She also asked that they not say anything to this guy that might inadvertently anger him! The owner informed the other employees, and they're going to keep an eye on him because he could possibly be hitting on other female customers too.

A guy she dated briefly back here is a police officer, and she consulted him yesterday about what to do. He told her that if the creep texts her again, not to ignore the text, but to reply politely, but in very clear terms that she is NOT interested. If he continues to pursue her after that, it will be considered harrassment under the law.

According to one of the coffee shop employees, no one particularly likes this guy anyway, and she doesn't think that he's long for the world in that job anyway. In the meantime, the owner told our daughter to give her a "look" if the guy ever approaches her inappropriately while she's there in the coffee shop.

we had major storms here for the past two days, My dad saw two tornados merge!

We saw Jersey Boys in Chicago yesterday, they were awesome. Blues fest was going on, but also rain on and off

Today was church, rain, Gabi's ballet photos. My stupid camera battery was dead Thats the only thing I don't like about this new camera, no docking station to charge...

Weather totally cleared up and we hit the water park!

Gabi did not want to leave, she may just learn to swim after all

more storms later :(

we had all day Saturday and Sunday at an extreme humidity and then the sky opened up and we had crazy storms for a couple hours. Some guy actually died and 4 others were hurt when the lightening struck. I guess they were at a park. I gotta tell ya weather all over the word this year is crazy.

Moore, your daughter did the right thing to notify the coffee shop people about her "admirer". I hope the management fired the creep. A hundred years ago, this might have been an appropriate way to woo a young lady (well, not the part about wanting to make love), but today it's just plain scary. Does she still stop by there, or has this experience scared her away for good?

Shelly, I think this is all part of the global warming issue because the weather has been all over the place nuts!

At 8:30 this morning, it was already 86 degrees. It's supposed to be 99 here today, with a heat index of 110. It's NEVER that hot here in early June, and this is on the heals of having a cold spring!

Moore I think you are right and oh how I wish I could afford to get a new car (yes car not truck). After spending all day in 85 + temps with a heat index of 90 and humidity at 56 percent my dark blue rodeo was darned hot and the AC doesn't work. I had planned on taking Jolene to play but I think that it was bad enough out today I doubt the daycare was allowed to let them play. People think I am nuts when i say that AZ isn't bad even though temps hit upwards of 115, well the humidity in Phx is nothing like what it is here. This is nuts.

Anyways, sorry ladies to be complaining but I got hot to the point that I was nauseous.

KaeEll, I don't know how I missed your earlier post, but I did! I'll blame it on the heat.

My daughter called me from that very coffee shop this afternoon, but it was the creep's day off. She REFUSES to be driven from one of her favorite places, one that gives her great peace, and she also knows that the owner and other staff are onto the guy...

Secondly, she believes that he will ultimately be fired for other reasons, and doesn't want him to associate any firing with her. So, she's going about her routine, but is ready to take a male friend with her, if necessary, or to give the owner "the eye".

Moore, GOOD for her! Yay, Arizona daughter!!

It is SO beastly hot here tonight. We have the AC cranked down to 19 but still the dining room is 25. We spent some part of the evening downstairs where it is cool and gorgeous, and Ted is fast asleep on the sofa down there, but I came up to let out the doggies and watch a bit of Letterman. Weather is weird right now everywhere. Weird. *shudder*

we had so much rain, hopefully today will be normal

I have a prayer group on my schedule and need to get coffee.

My husband is taking a few days off, we might just stick around town. Go to Chicago, the Zoo, water park. But he wants to go to Michigan. Which is very lovely. But I'm trying to keep a tight budget until I see what gas prices do.
