Here I sit at work with little to nothing to do. I am hopefully at my permanent desk station. So far I like the job. Still a lot to learn but I am learning so its okay I think. Seems I will be able to wear jeans and thats always a good thing. I am getting better at typing on this laptop too. Not sure if thats a good thing or not. I am suppose to get my desktop soon. Then I will know that I am staying for a little while. The program we are working with though is far from an easy one. Not so sure that I like it.
Tonight Jolene has another swimming class. She sure likes it, I like it because its at an indoor pool so even if it rains she still gets to go. I will probably sign her up for another one right after this one, that way she gets to swim all summer and she continues to learn.
Oh yeah, good news. My brothers wife had their baby last night. Weighed in at 9.45 pounds. My mom says she didn't get the length but my goodness thats a big baby. His name is Jacob Wayne. I will post pictures whenever I get them.
Congrats, Auntie Shelly!! Big baby is right! Wow. And you always do manage to land the nicest jobs that let you play around on the computer in down time. Thank goodness I didn't lose my Y&R buddy, lol.
I'm taking it easy again today until later on this afternoon. Tony is back in Richmond, Va., so my d-i-l will want some help with the kids during the witching hours.
We finally got the backsplash installed, partly. The contractor said he has to come back to move some electrical stuff in order to put in the last piece. That should take another 3 months. Never mind the shower tiles. They are on back order, maybe by Christmas. Quell joke this reno has been.
Yay, Y&R will start in 4 minutes, just enough time to flip the laundry around.
Shelly, congratulations on the new nephew, and congratulations KaeEll on getting that backsplash in!
We had another storm roll through last night, and lost our power again. It was off for nearly seven hours, and we also lost a tree! Fortunately, there wasn't any flooding in the basement because we would have been up a creek (sorry for that...) since there was no power for us to be able to suck up the water.
I hate to lose trees. This was a white pine that was outside our back door, and off to the side by the garage. There are several others too, but this one has been there for a good twenty years. Fortunately, it didn't hit the house, but fell all the way across our patio with its top just barely resting on the deck rail.
I'm not certain that there wasn't a mini tornado, to tell you the truth. Jim was home early, and I had just gone upstairs to get something. While I was up there, I heard a "whooshing" sound that was like a sudden burst of high wind. Just enough to capture my attention. It was over with in just a couple of seconds, and then Jim called to me from downstairs to tell me to come look out the back window!
We have indeed experienced VERY bizarre weather this year...

We had weird storms here too. Sunday, one minute it was beautiful, then within 5 minutes it was dumping buckets of rain, then clear up, then more crazy rain. Yesterday we had a huge hail storm in the middle of the afternoon and by 5 it was sunny again. What the heck??!!
KaeEll, speaking of your contractor, I forgot to mention in my previous post that I thought about you this morning.
Regis and Kelly were talking about attending a HUGE house-warming party at Judge Judy's brand new house this past weekend. According to what they said, this is a brand new MASSIVE house, up in Connecticut, that's absolutely gorgeous. They were rushing to get it built in time for this party because the house-warming was also an anniversary celebration.
They managed to get this MASSIVE and apprently gorgeous house built and furnished in only four months! Tells you something about that n'er-do-well slacker bathroom contractor... But I am glad to know that he's making some progress.

It must be something in the water on my street, Moore. The idiots across the road from us have been renovating since August and still have construction debris all over the front yard. I'm this close to calling the "Unsightly Properties" hotline for the city of Toronto. These are the lovely folks who call the police on us when we have overnight visitors park out front, who have the noisy vile kids we call "the whelps". So far, all I've done is replace my perfunctory wave hello with an icy glance.
You guys make me happy that I don't own my house. I don't have to worry about stuff like that. Though we are looking to buy at our next duty station. Who knows.
we've had lots of storms, tornado warnings, hail and rain lately. Luckily we are not in a flood zone
Shelly, where is your new job? What do you do?
Kae, I think you should just give up on all expectations on that contractor!
we looked at a new van last night, they wouldn't give us hardly anything for our trade in, and yet on carmax my van goes for $15,000. So we did not buy. I didn't think we needed a new one, and yet they do look nice
Today I did some chores, ironed and went to the water park we joined. Lovely here today!
I caught most of One Life, some of AMC. Erica in Jail is campy!
