Sabrina just heard back, and the bank accepted her offer of $75,000.00. She is thrilled, and so am I. The great news is that I hooked her up with my banker, and it looks like I will not need to co-sign!
The condo fee, $248.00 includes heat and hot water, which is great up here in New England. We will be busy painting. Check out the kitchen, once you can get beyond the pea soup green wall, it's beautiful, and all the appliances come with it! She's going to have cherry wood cabinets, granite counter tops, and stainless steel appliances. Not to shabby! I told her how proud I am, she will not turn 23 until Sunday, so she is starting on this while still 22. It's not huge, but it's a great start, and it's actually going to be cheaper for her to own this, than to rent!
Tess, that is really good news. Congratulations to your daughter, and congratulations to you for not needing to cosign!
Your daughter is very wise to buy now, and to buy at her age. Our oldest will be 25 on July 3rd, and is trying every which way to buy down in Raleigh, NC. Your daughter is getting a wonderful deal at $75,000.00, and she will never regret this decision.
I'm very happy for both you!

It basically breaks down that she owns one of the units in the building, and parking spaces. The condo association maintains the property which she is 1/100th owner of, if there are 100 units. The condo fee goes towards covering the maintenance, common areas, and things like the exterior, and hallways in the building. Six months ago, they were going for over $140,000.00. The unit that she is purchasing is a bank foreclosure.
Real estate in NH is less expensive than here in Massachusetts. The condo is roughly about an hour drive from Boston, and is very close to the Massachusetts border. It is also in a town that is very close to the highways, and in the hub of corporate NH. Her commute will be five miles to work.
