Monday, Monday

Another beautiful summer's day here in Toronto, birds twittering, bees buzzing, and we were up at dawn for no particular reason, groan. Mornings aren't my specialty, lol.

The weekend passed without incident, parents for dinner last night, and they had the good grace to leave shortly after 8. I rented Charlie Wilson's War from the "On Demand" thingy, loved it, but Ted fell asleep two minutes into it, so I had nobody to discuss it with afterwards. Did any of you see it?

We never made it to Elte for the July sale. I went online, found the perfect coffee table, but the darn thing was $3000, a "little" more than I planned to spend. Lucky thing Ted pointed out to me that it was awfully delicate with no supports beneath it and wouldn't stand up well to little kids using it as a toddling support.

So what's on the agenda today? Anything exciting?

today is going to be my relax day. we have been out and about every day and yesterday I cleaned to make up for all the days gone. Ed had invited someone over and I had to make sure everything looked good, but then they decided not to come.

weather today is overcast, possible rain. I was going to clean my carpets, but it's too humid

I can't wait for this puppy to be trained. We're getting a cage for nights. My teenage son can't handle the responsibility of keeping her in the basement with him

She's lovable but really big. my other dog likes to play with her at times, and then remind her who's boss as well!

I rearranged our basement again. Ed is having a 40'th birthday party for me, so we need to be sure the house looks good and some people might want to go to the basement if the weather is terribly hot. I'll have to scan in the invite I made up and post it here, I put my 2nd grade picture on it, really cute.

I hope to catch my soaps, then Ryan is getting his bottom braces on, after months of waiting. His hygiene has been awful and his gums keep getting too swollen to put the braces on!

How has Ted recoverd Kae? back to work yet?

Today is work again, good news is I am back to only working 8 hour days. Though this morning I had to take Jolene to the doctors, I was convinced that she might have an ear infection. She has had this nasty cough for the better part of a week and then yesterday complained about her ear hurting. Then the doctor looked at her throat and noticed it was red, did a culture thankfully it only took 10 minutes. I was so afraid I would have to miss work. That would stink.
So I have to make up and hour. Not bad.
This weekend we had fireworks on Saturday instead of Friday, I guess the town of Groton always does it on Saturday no matter when the holiday falls. They were good fireworks, got a few pictures but on my cell phone so they weren't great.

Thanks for asking, Tina. Ted's back to work about 5 hours a day but so many of his colleagues work from home during the good weather that he has been too. He has to run downtown 3 or 4 times a week for a meeting here and there, but much can be done with conference calls and the internet. Nothing really replaces face to face for some things, but when he has contracts to emend, it's almost better for him to stay home to read.

I can hardly believe his surgery was two weeks ago today. It seemed like forever waiting for it, and now, all over!

I am so glad to hear that Ted is doing okay. He was in our church bulletin the Sunday before the surgery and then again yesterday. I need to email them to praise how great he is doing. I bet a huge relief has been lifted.

What a relief to have all of that surgery behind you now! We're lucky that working from home is possible. It certainly wasn't when our parents' generation was in the work force. Jim is home today too, but you're right KaeEll - there are just some days when that's not even remotely possible. I'm so happy that Ted's recovery has been so quick...

It's still overcast here today, and we're going to be going to NC at the end of the week. I'm stressed! I don't know exactly WHY I'm stressed, but I am... Just too much to do in between now and then, I guess, and Arizona-daughter will be coming home for ten days. That's a GOOD thing, but also brings a flurry of activity, and new needs.

I have a gazillion doll club commitments, and JUST received an email from one of my dollmakers who apparently didn't pay ANY attention to the instructions for our current project, even though I circulated MANY MANY emails on the subject, and it was discussed ad nauseum during the last SEVERAL meetings!!! I could cry...

Things I've learned today:

Jenn Sterger doesn't like Erin Andrews all that much.

Brett Favre is getting more unretirement rumors then when he got retirement rumors.

Apparently a lot of people spent their tax stimulus package on a different type of stimulus aka porno.

I hate my job it sucks.

And finally, Rockies need to turn off the humidor permanently. We win more that way!

Yep. I have a lot of contract work but not interested in being a contractor, I want full time with benefits, etc. Keeping my eye out though.

Bran, good luck with the job search!! I know something'll turn up!

Kae, I'm so glad to hear that Ted is recovering nicely. More fuzzies if needed.

Moore, I thought of you when I was driving through South Dakota this weekend, and saw a giant billboard for a huge Doll Show/Museum.

LOL, if I didn't have 6 more hours of driving in front of me, I would have stopped and snapped a few photos!

KaeEll, It's great to hear that Ted is doing so well, it must be such a great releif!

Brandon, Hang in there, everything happens for a reason, even the timing of changes, it may not make sense at the time, but later on, a big AhHa moment will occur. I have had many of them throughout my career. I definitely think that you are making the right decision to look for permanent versus contact. I'm a contractor at my current job, and although they have offered me full-time (with about a 50% reduction in pay), I will be looking for something at a better company. I put them off until the fall, but at that point I'm going to look for something permanent, but saner.

I can't believe how slow this week is for me. I am going to try to be on vacation next week, and I can't wait for the time off. I am not planning on going anywhere, just unwinding here at home, and taking care of some projects that have been postponed for way to long. If I get really adventurous, I may tackle that third bedroom of mine that is crying out for new molding, a hardwood floor and new wall coloring. I may also finally get around to replacing the doors in my hallway. They are luan, which I hate. I want six-pannel pine doors. The thing about that is that I really need to replace the door jambs, which then means that I'll be replacing the molding with the nicer stuff that I want. I have all the tools, my laser compound mitre saw, and a power nailer, which make it much easier. They are the last two spots in the house that I have not replaced all the molding. That's what I do for fun. There is something great about creating something tangible with my hands, since I spend so much of my time at the computer.

Anyway, I hope that everyone has a great day!

Moore, I'll go check out SOC, although probably not participate. I don't watch soaps these days, although I DVR them. I can't believe how much I have come to dislike AMC.

Sophia

Tess, AMC is much better when Jesse and Angie Hubbard are on!
