Okay, so since it seems as though we never talk soaps anymore at this soap board I thought I would try to start a few threads to get the soap wheels moving.
For this one, for those of you who quit watching soaps because there was nothing good to watch, when was the last time you were a religious watcher? What storyline held your interest? And what would make you come back?
I realize that for some its about being too busy to sit down for that hour a day or 3 hours a day depending on if you watched all 3 ABC shows but for others that isn't the case. I want to know if there is a story that you would make time to watch?
Well I used to watch it all the time with my mom in the summer when I was in school. I remember AMC's Tad scenario where he had 3 mothers. Opal, Ruth and then Mrs. Orsini who thought Tad was her son Ted. Tad and Dixie stuff from the late 80s and early 90s was interesting too. AMC was pretty cool back then.
I also was interested in a scenario where a doctor decided he was going to be an Egyptian god and a blonde lady was his victim, pretty sure this was Ryan's Hope. But I thought it was a GH plot for the longest time.
I watch randomly, right now I'm in a not really watching anything phase. Just don't give a crap about any of the storylines going on any of the shows right now.

I was such an avid ABC soap fan for years, I never thought the day would come when I absolutely couldn't take it any more, but it did come to that.
I'm relatively tepid about AMC now as I've tried watching it a little in the past two weeks. What I don't care at all about is Greenlee, Ryan and Kendall and their dramas. That simply isn't grabbing me. I still enjoy Tad and Adam, wish Erica would stop tossing her hair.
AS for OLTL, oy! If I do sit down for it, I find myself muting it. No surprise to anyone that knows me that I just can not watch TSJ's Todd. I could go on for paragraphs, but I'll spare you. I do think the writers have lost their minds trying to make a romance between Marty and Todd. And why on earth is Michael Easton still around? He's like a black hole sucking up the scenes into a pit of doom.
Now Y&R is another story altogether. I couldn't be more addicted to a serial drama than I am to this one. The writing isn't perfect, the actors have their good days and bad, but overall, I find it such fun to watch. Another good thing about this soap is that if a story isn't working, it's chucked, straightaway. Viewers aren't tortured, nor is their loyalty tested. ABC really could do with a page from that lesson book!
Brandon I really liked the show then too. I agree with Kae in that I don't like greenlee right now and I honestly hope that when her 1 year contract is up that she goes. If the show can learn to balance the stories better.
Do you guys remember when a show would have 2-3 different storylines in one show that almost never had anything to do with the others. But now it seems as though everything is connected. And its always connected to Kendall, Zack, Ryan, Greenlee and whoever else they choose to throw into the story at the moment. I mean this show has some amazing talent.
To be honest I would rather watch story with Erica's aborted baby then Kendall. I mean Josh is so much more interesting because they never allowed him to be over used. I love Alicia Minshew and Thorsten Kaye but enough is enough. I hope that this new writer manages to turn things around
I began watching AMC from the first day it aired, but didn't begin watching OLTL on a regular basis until our youngest daughter was born in 1988. She always wanted a bottle at 2:00 pm, so I would feed her while OLTL was on, and got hooked!
Before that, I used to catch occasional glimpses of OLTL and GH, but never actually watched them, and I've never watched GH on a regular basis. Two soaps is enough!
I like both AMC and OLTL, but I continually change my opinion on which one I prefer, depending on what their storylines are. Sometimes, I like both at the same time, and that always feels like a bit of a miracle! LOL...
