Aw, sleep - if only I could get a little more of it. I can't get myself to bed much before 2 and we're up with the birds most days. Ted's off to Montreal this morning but will be back for dinner. Nick has moved back in and poodle is on our bed looking quite contented. Mike's in WV, Tony's in Hanover, NH for a few days. Nick's leaving for a blogger's convention in Las Vegas on Thursday morning. I'm just stuck here with a large pile of pears and three chutney recipes, lol. (Thanks again to Jojo for those.) At noon today I have to take mother to her dentist, then tea with my little ones and to see Vanessa's costume for Halloween. She's so excited to be a witch this year!
That's my day in brief. What's up with you all today?
Jim has decided to take the day off, our son is coming to dinner tonight, and I have a doll club meeting tomorrow, so I need to prepare for that.
We also have some phone calls to make, related to that fender-bender. We really didn't need this headache, and Jim was very stressed over it last night. I'm worried that it may affect his blood pressure again...

Moore, take Jim to a beach in the Cayman's for a few days. :) I'm really sorry about that car accident thing. I know what a total pain that can be.
Argh. Nick just came bursting in the front door with the news that he was just given a job at Whistler (in BC) teaching skiing this winter, that his interview at 8:30 today went really, really well. So that's it. I guess. He really is moving out west after all.
Back to the car accident for a sec. Several years ago, the Ontario government set up no fault insurance - mandatory. If you're in a fender bender or something more serious, doesn't matter who was at fault, both parties will pay for repairs, both insurance rates will increase, and heaven help you if you don't report the accident tot eh insurance company, like my mother used to do. It's does take the sail out of a liar's wind.
Today started out slow. It was the day that my contract here at Pfizer was suppose to expire but was extended until the end of the year just yesterday actually. This morning I was able to get through the gate with my badge but could not get into the computer. So from just before 8 until just a little while ago I was sitting here just twiddling my thumbs in boredom. Thankfully I am back in business.
Kae I believe there are several states here that have that no fault thing. Its probably a good idea all around. I mean if you are hit and its totally someone else's fault it does stink to have to pay for some of the damages but its better then having to pay for all of them yourself.
Congratulations to Nick. Our kids can certainly keep us on our toes when it comes to transitions! I'm sure that he must be very excited about this.
KaeEll, I'd love to be headed for the Cayman Islands right about now! If this idiot guy is smart at all, that's where HE will consider going right about now...
I don't know what the outcome of this is going to be, but we're going to fight it as much as possible. I am now officially pissed, and when I'm pissed, people need to stand back, and get out of the way!! My nature is normally to lie down like a throw rug, "be sweet", and allow people to walk on me for as long as they please until they finally step on me one time too many. That's when some strange switch flips on in the "psycho crazy bitch" portion of my inner self, and then it's Katie bar the door; I suddenly become a seasoned street fighter with a killer instinct! The lady-like woman with the soft little voice of a ten-year-old child suddenly delivers her own version of "shock and awe", with the patience and logic of a chess player. Like my lawyer father, I gather my evidence, prepare my case, and then strike with a determination and persistence that others rarely expect from me...
I'm not always successful, but am more times than not. We'll have to see on this one, but at least the agent is going to get the picture that we won't just accept this situation quietly, and walk away.
Although there was no police report filed, I've tracked down the name of the police officer who responded, and have put in a phone call to him. I want to refresh his memory of the situation (in case the agent contacts him), and remind him that the lying truck driver had every opportunity to speak to the officer at that time, and make certain that he knew who was at fault. Instead, Jim was the only one who spoke to the officer (and we're the ones who called), and the other guy just lurked in the background. Wouldn't you want to be certain that the responding officer knew your side of the story, especially if you thought that it was the other guy's fault?
I have also called Harris-Teeter corporate to get a record of our shopping history, going back twelve months. They can see that we're there on a daily basis, and are going to fax us the records. We're also pulling our own bank records which will reflect the same thing. There is no reason why we would have been headed towards a different market, as the idiot lying truck driver is now claiming.
Let's see...our own quiet neighborhood market where we shop daily versus the crazy congested market with no parking, in the middle of a messy intersection during rush hour traffic where we have NEVER shopped, and for which we don't even have a shopping card, AND which is in a different direction from where we live. Hmmm... Which story makes sense?
Wish me luck.

Thank you for the good luck wishes, Shelly. I hope that they'll lend some extra cosmic energy to my own mission, while redirecting some bad karma to the truck driver!
You know, I'd quite honestly be willing to spend three times the amount of the car repairs, if necessary, to take this to court than to swallow an unjust decision on this matter. I'm sure that our own agent will be able to guide us through some of this too, as far as procedure is concerned.

Beth is on a doctor kick. Which is fine by me honestly becasue she wants to be a doctor when she grows up and wants to be one for Halloween. Get this though. Our local Walmart has not got one single doctor costume for kids... I'm very disappointed.
I'll bet that you could find some scrubs for her at a drug store, or at a medical supply store. Even if they were a bit too big, you could pin them on the inside (or baste them), and then she could always use them as pjs after Halloween!
I remember the days of the annual "what shall I be for Halloween" crisis. Still, it's one of my favorite holidays because I just love to see all the little kids in their costumes!

Jolene's little girlfriend is going to be a princess for halloween. Not a Disney one just a generic one. So I am going to get a princess one for Jo that is also generic so they can go trick or treating together as princesses. Because they are both very much diva's
Jess, I was just with my little ones and they were wearing their Halloween costumes today for Nanny (me)! So adorable. Anyway, my d-i-l said that at Sick Kids Hospital here, (Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children) they have, in the gift shop, scrubs for kids with "Sick Kids" on them lots of sizes. Do you want me to go down there and pick p a couple of them for Beth and Aiden, mail them to you? It would be my pleasure.
My mom's dental appointment was "lots of fun". I dropped her off then stopped by Marilyn's house with all the chutney supplies for tomorrow. My phone rang - the dentist. "Mrs. Norris brought the wrong dentures, Can you please go get the correct ones?" Oh, yeah, sure. I called d-i-l, said I'd be late. Ran up to their house, get correct denture, took back to dentist, drove to d-i-l's house while eating my chicken sandwich. Lovely baby sitting with the wee ones. My phone rang. The dentist's office. "Mrs. Norris still doesn't have the correct lower denture. Can you please go back to her house and look for it?" "Well, I'm a good 15 minutes away from there and my d-i-l is...." "Fantastic. Thank you so much, Karen". I didn't even finish my sentence. Did that thing, got to dentist - never mind that d-i-l was counting on me for another hour. Get to dentist, and the dentist himself, a guy who advertises on television here, came out expecting to charm me with his blah, blah and gave me a bill for $4,100 for my mother's dental work. Don't get me started.
Good heavens!!! What the heck did your mother have done? What did I miss...??? I don't imagine that she had braces put on for the next two years, did she?
What a day you had. Good heavens...
I want to see pictures of the little Halloween witch, of the little doctor, and of the two little princesses. I miss making Halloween costumes. Such an exciting time for all the children who just want to go out all glammed up, or spooky, and come home with some candy. A wonderful, innocent time!
KaeEll, what a great source for those small scrubs!

My d-i- took several pictures today of Vanessa in her costume so as soon as she e mails them to me, I'll post. Quentin is a spider this year, but we don't have a picture of that yet. As soon as I have one, I'll send it along.
My mom's dentist is quite the fellow. I can guarantee you that his lovely wife, all gussied up in her extremely expensive designer clothes (she runs his office) isn't shopping at the thrift mall. And when you see his assistant driving off in her Mercedes SUV, kind of makes you wonder, non? He treats his clients like royalty and many elderly people LOVE that, as does my mother, and that's why she insist on going to him.
What did she have done? Oh, new fiddlings with her bridges, some porcelain things here and there. Not all that much. Nice work if you can get it, eh?
Good work on the evidence compilation, Moore! You MUST keep us up to date on how the case unfolds.
KaeEll, the cars and the designer clothes definitely make one wonder, but if his patients are happy, I suppose that's worth something -- especially when it's the older ones.
I'll keep you posted on the car thing. I have a sinking feeling that this is going to be a continuing pain, and a battle that we might ultimately lose, but we're going to go down swinging! We really didn't need this to land in our laps right now, but I'm trying very hard to remember that people are dealing with much larger issues than this...
I still want to smack the lying creep though. It's my evil alter trying to emerge again!

What a day, what a day. I JUST got my kiddo to bed. It's been a long, terrible day, and I'm thankful it's over!
I haven't even asked Jack what he wants to be for Halloween yet. I think he'll want to be Indiana Jones, the Lego Version, thanks to that darned lego wii game. EESH. It's his fave game, and he plays it every chance I give him.
$4100?? ACK. You should tell them they need to deduct your expenses on paying for gas for all those denture trips back and forth. Heh.
Moore, many hugs and fuzzies for the accident pains.
On the no-fault insurance stuff, I think there are 5 or 6 states that have it, and the rest of the state are one of three different types of fault laws. I'm not sure. I only know what my state is.
