There are people across the street from us that are so annoying in so many ways, not the least of it is their bloody renovations that have taken over a year. But this morning, they took the cake. I had trouble sleeping really early on today, got up, posted a little, took a tylenol and went back to bed about 7 and fell fast alseep. At 8:45 I woke with a start to the racket of kids yelling and playing and thought for sure that I'd landed in playground hell. Uh, no. After I stumbled over to the coffee maker and punched it on (Ted, bless his heart, always makes it ready for me every morning) I looked out the front window, and there, right in front of our house, were hopscotch boards chalked into the street and a gazillion kids all over it, running, laughing and screaming. (That's what our charming neighbours do - use their voices at top range ALL the time. I guess their friends all do as well.)
Who the *&%%$#@ has a birthday party for kids at 8:30 on a Sunday morning??? Is this some new kind of trend amongst the over-scheduled and ill-mannered parents of soccer kids? GAH!!
Well, I'm up now, reluctantly, and coffeed, and the damn party has adjourned to inside the neighbours' house. Wasn't that thoughtful of them? One of these days....
What's up today, all?
PS to Jojo - I see that you've moved to the Turks and Caicos. We used to spend some winter breaks there with the kids in Provo, absolute heaven!! We always rented the same suite in a low rise building with a kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a pull out sleeper in the living room for one of the boys. We snorkelled, swam, hunted for conch shells, fished and bummed around on the beach. Have a wonderful stay there. You'll LOVE it!! Get used to driving on the "wrong" side of the road. :)
Oh, for HEAVEN'S sake!! I mean it's one thing for kidlets to be out playing too early on a weekend, but quite another for parents to schedule a PARTY at that hour! Nuts... Even if they had a sleepover, it would have been the CONSIDERATE thing to do to keep the kids inside with a movie (or something) until they were sure that the hour was such that the neighbors were likely awake, and out of bed.
No manners, and no consideration of others. Great message to send the kids. I was always a stickler for this kind of thing, and all three of my kids will confirm it!
I'm sorry about your restless night, and rude awakening this morning.
Jim's currently outside on the front patio (the one we're going to have to rip up) enjoying the pretty morning with some reading. I haven't quite decided yet what's on our agenda. We finished watching our usual CBS Sunday Morning, and I think that Jim has some work to do downstairs.

That's one of the main problems with this set of neighbours, that they have absolutely NO consideration for the people that live around them, and they are solely responsible for the house next door to them having different people living there on average, every 2 years. I pity the poor couple that moved in there 16 months ago with high hopes of making it their dream nest, lol. These (the icky ones) are the people who called the police and had us stuck with at least 2 $40 parking tickets for leaving a car on our street overnight. To say I'm not fond of them is an understatement.
Marilyn's coming over at 2 with bribe bottle of wine and 2 lamps for Ted to rewire for her. (She lost her husband in a plane crash in the Amazon 13 years ago, has two married sons but both are super busy all the time.) My parents will be here at 6 for dinner. I think we'll just toss some steaks on the bbq and roast up vegies.
I'm still quite angry with my father for what he did on Friday. Long story short, he lied to me about the timing for a dear friend of my mother's funeral and snuck off to the reception at a local golf club BEFORE I could possible have gotten my mother home from her beauty routine appointments, all of which I switched around to earlier so that she'd be ready before 2, the hour my father had told me was the time. It all took place at 10:30 for the service and noon for the reception. Mom missed all of it. She was crestfallen. He did that out of spite. Nice. More than a few people were inconvenienced by my father's prank and when I confronted him, he snickered. Mean old fart.
I am sorry kae both for your early morning troubles and for your ornery father. Which reminds me that I need to phone mine. My mom told him I was pregnant and that I was hoping he could help me buy Jolene a bed. He agreed because unlike my other siblings I never ever ask for money but with a new baby coming it would be nice not to have to worry about a new baby.
I think we have decided to hold off getting a new car until Vinnie gets back from sea. By then the Durango will be almost paid off and most of our cards will be paid off or way down. So getting a loan will be easier. And by the time he gets back the inventory at the dealerships should be better with 09 models.
Anyways, I am off to the commissary. Seriously the best thing about the military is tax free shopping.
I have to eat more fruits and veggies now that I am expecting. I was a little bummed to realize that I can no longer eat bloody meat. I usually get my steaks medium but I don't think I can even go that rare. Makes me sad. I need to go get some prenatal's too. I am afraid to take them because with Jo they made me sick and I am enjoying not being sick right now.
Kae I hope you are able to get a good nap in. I am in that stage of pregnancy where I am sleepy all the time so I can imagine how it must feel to be without enough sleep.
*Yawn* I AM tired today. I loved the tax free shopping too when Ted was finishing off his military time in the reserves. I'd hit the PX and go crazy!! Loved that!! I can remember finding so many bargains there, and at the time we were paying down a huge mortgage in California, but thanks to the GI Bill, we had the down payment taken care of for us. Military life has it's upside, that's for sure.
Shelly, I don't know why you can't eat your steaks medium. That's certainly cooked enough, and from what I understand, it's not so much bacteria on steaks that's of concern (it's usually only on the surface, and that's cooked first), but in hamburgers.
Also, sushi is out...
One suggestion about the bed -- don't get a "transitional" bed for her. Go forward with a regular twin or even a double bed. Kids grow faster than you can imagine, so you may as well get a nice bed that she can keep through her teens.
KaeEll, I can certainly understand why you're upset with your father; I'd be FURIOUS! I don't understand why he'd want to upset your mother like that...

LOL Kae! I can't wait to "get out and explore" turks. Hehe.
And a double GAH for you, for the irritatingly noisy children (I could smack parents like that) and your naughty father (I could smack him too.) Sounds like something my gramps would do. Hmmph. And I do not let Jackson out to play on the weekends before 10 a.m. Even then I tell him to keep it calm and a little quieter until the afternoon. And I certainly do not plan parties at that retarded hour!
Shelly, I could hardly take my prenatals either, because I was so sick. I felt terrible for the first 6 months or so of my pregnancy. I hope you can remain sick free!
I ended up doing a lot of cleaning yesterday, and took Jack to the park for a bit last night. Today, he is playing out with friends, and I've settled in for some NASCAR and football. It's hard to watch 2 channels at once. :p
Thanks moore. I haven't seen the doctor yet so haven't gotten my list of no no's. The good thing is I don't like my meat so rare as med. rare. Just medium. Your right I think it is cooked enough, and depending on where I go its not even really medium but more on the done side.
I think we are thinking of getting one of those bunk beds with the full size bottom...She will be able to use it for years esp. if we get a good one
Crotchety old men really piss me off. Thanks for agreeing with me that I had a right to be angry, guys. I told him over the phone that what he did was cruel and perverse.
Shelly, my d-i-l was told not to eat fish because of the mercury content in them during her two recent pregnancies, so I would imagine that would on your NO list as well. But she sure did eat a lot of red meat, just not rare. She peeled all her potatoes to make sure there was no green beneath the skin Tomatoes and potatoes are members of the Deadly Nightshade family and the green coloring on a potato has a very mild toxin in it. She drank beet juice and cherry nectar for iron as the iron tablets didn't sit too well. I'm sure your doc will take excellent care of you.
It's so much fun having another pregnancy in the "family".

I don't blame you one bit for telling him that, KaeEll. What he did completely baffles me!

OKay, so I am looking for a relatively cheap either day bed with the trundle or a bunk bed with a full size bottom. So if any of you guys get bored can you surf the net for me. I figure the more people looking the better
I would be inclined to focus more on the bunk bed combination than on the day bed. I think there will be more flexibility that way. I'll be happy to do an internet search for you!
