I found this in the morning paper. Michael Smith is one of my fave TV chefs and I've loved his style of cooking for years. I haven't tried this yet, but when I saw the smoked salmon, lemon zest and dill along with cream cheese, capers and green onions, I knew it would be a winner. And it's dead easy! (Moore, you could leave out the capers if your son is coming for dinner, as I recall you said he didn't like them.) I'm cooking this tomorrow night. Yummy yum.
That looks delicious, KaeEll, and right up our alley!
Actually, our son LOVES capers (we all do); he hates pickles and mayo which is why I couldn't make your potato salad when he came over. That's what you're remembering. In fact, when our son had dinner with us last week, I made chicken picatta, and dumped some extra capers on the leftovers that he took home! He was a happy boy. LOL...

That recipe sounds really good. I wish Vinnie ate seafood. And I found out today I can eat fish, I just can't have albacore tuna or any of the shark family type fish. Which is good because when Me and my sister meet up for the walk she wants to celebrate baby so we are doing red lobster
Shelly, Vinnie may change his mind down the road. Sometimes people develop a taste for these things later in life. I know that Jim was really picky about it when we were first married (would only eat filet of sole), but loves pretty much everything now.
Our son likes different fish, but doesn't like any shellfish. It's disappointing because the rest of us love crab, shrimp, and lobster. I think that our son was traumatized when he was a little boy, and we were at the beach. We decided to go out for Maryland steamed crab (where they dump a dozen crabs on newspaper, on the table, and you pull them apart), and he thought they were icky looking, with their eyes, and everything. He also hates spiders (got that from my sister), and crabs are more like spiders than fish. He begged for a hot dog instead, and got one! LOL...

Vinnie's a navy man who won't eat fish, eh? That's a first one, Shelly, lol. That's really a shame but maybe you could try this recipe for Sharon and the kidneys one day. I'll let you know how it tastes after I've made it, but my bet is that it's fabulous.
Moore, apologies for getting the capers thing wrong. I knew he didn't like something, lol. Good thing he doesn't come here for dinner or I'd be making him mayo pickle sandwiches thinking they were his favourites, lol.
I just got a call back from the upholstery man. I left him a voice mail last night when I realised he did not put down in the love seat cushions, and I paid for that. He said that he'd reorder the stuffing for me and I'd have them next week. I had thought he was so fantastic, and he almost ripped me off. Sigh...
A quiet day here after a really nutsy Sunday evening. Mike left again at 4 this morning and the darn taxi driver phoned our number twice to say he was in the driveway. I never got back to sleep properly and got up at 6 again. This nonsense has GOT to stop, lol. Nick returns home at 7 tonight. Can't wait to hear how Las Vegas was, sans computer at a computer expo and all.
Oops, I veered of thread topic again. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle for me.
I'll go toss in a load of wash and dust around so I can watch Y&R at 11.
KaeEll, I OUGHT to start feeding the child pickle and mayo sandwiches, just to desensitize him! Or perhaps I could make him a nice crab salad with plenty of mayo and pickles! What I don't understand is how he can like capers and NOT like pickles. Granted, they have different tastes, but they're both pickled, and they're both salty!
I haven't been sleeping well either, for some reason, and usually this is the time of year when I sleep really well. I feel your pain, and hope that this cycle changes for you very soon...

Yeah I think the problem with Vinnie is that he was stationed in the Pacific for so many years that he is probably sick of it. His mom tells me he use to love it.
It actually works out because that means when I do get shell fish which is my fave then its actually more of a treat. Sad thing is that along with that shark thing I believe is swordfish, and Outback makes a really great swordfish
The father of one of my childhood friends was stationed in the Pacific during WWII (as was my father). For the rest of his life, he apparently flatly REFUSED to eat any rice because he'd had his fill of that during the war.
