The Soap Watcher Fan's Bill of Rights.

These are the things as a soap watcher and longtime fan of my shows that I think we as soap fans should have as our rights and we should demand them or else the last remaining fanbase they have should dry up and go away and may be already doing so.

I'm only gonna list a few. I will the others for my fellow soap fans to fill in.

1. I demand a writer who actually knows and/or gives a damn about the history of the show!

2. I demand a writer who actually gives a damn about the core characters and has respect for them.

3. I demand that the camera work is at least decent and declare and decree the shaky cam days are over and done. If you're that nervous lay off the coffee.

4. I demand a decent wardrobe and hair and makeup department.

I'm sure there are others I left off and you can come up with. Feel free to. Have fun.

I demand that the show be character driven rather than plot driven. Characters should be believable, and their actions should make sense, even when they're OUT of character. If that makes sense...

I demand that new characters be introduced slowly and that they aren't so annoying as to destroy that particular story line (see Eden Baldwin on Y&R).

I demand that characters stay dead if they're going to die. They are not that many life saving miracles in the world.

I also demand that there stop being so many recasts. If the role was so important, you should have just kept the original actor that made UNLESS they absolutely sucked a la replacement Belle #1 (not Madson) on Days Of Our Lives.

I demand that long lost family members stop arriving. Not everyone on a soap has to be related.
example: How many long lost family members has AMC's Ryan had over the years?
Same with Michael on Y&R, first it was the brother, then the mother, then the step father, now the father and now another sister.

I demand more realism. An entire city, especially one as small as Port Charles seems to be, shouldn't revolve around mob. And mob people should not be idolized. There is nothing heroic about Jason Morgan or Sonny Corinthos

I demand writers review past shows and ratings to see what worked, and go back to it.

I feel like Tad is an excellent example of this

BTW Moore I just went through your post to decide what was most important, so use to not being able to quote entire previous posts
