Wednesday

YAH, as of today the week is half over. I like this week because I had to take off work yesterday because the base daycare was closed. And with Vinnie out to sea that left me being able to stay home with Jolene. So we spent the day yesterday out at the outlet malls just walking around. I found a couple of super cute dresses for Jo. Since she is so tall I have to buy her 5's because otherwise they are to short and she winds up flashing everyone. Also found a motherhood outlet. I will probably head out that way again this weekend to hopefully pick up a couple pairs of pants.

What is everyone up too. I saw that aside from Kae's day ahead we didn't have any posts yesterday. Where was everyone....oh and belatedly Happy Veterans Day....I hope everyone had a great day yesterday.

It's so nice that you got to spend a mother-daughter day of shopping with Jolene yesterday. It's so much fun to find something that you like, and for a good price! I really need to buy some new clothes, VERY badly, but I just despise the process now. I see very little I like, and it kills so much time trying stuff on, saying "yuck", taking it off again, etc., etc., etc., until I can't stand it anymore.

There's nothing much going on around here. Jim got home safely Monday night, and was home yesterday because of the holiday. Very quiet, and nothing really to post.

Well, I did sew a button on one of Jim's shirts this morning that had come off when it was dry cleaned. How's that? Another example of my exciting and glamorous life!! LOL...

Where does Jo get her height from? Is Vinnie tall? I had forgotten that you were off work yesterday, Shelly.

I'm home all week until Friday because of this flu bug. No relapses, thank you. Ted's been picking up our fresh veggies on his way home - he doesn't seem to mind doing that and it gives me the chance to rest. The most excitement around here has been the leaf sucker truck in the neighbourhood, lol. Ted blew all the leaves into the ditch and the pile is enormous.

Ted has to go down to the American Consulate today for his passport renewal. He and a few colleagues are heading to San Fransisco the first week of December and now we all need documentation to cross the border. Quell pain! Anyway, he looked very spiffy all dressed up this morning for the photograph.

So I'm around all day. If I can muster the energy, I'll pop in a load of laundry. But mostly I'm, parked on the sofa in the den, reading and playing on the computer.

Just to share my exciting day, here's the pile of leaves in front of my house.

Moore, we must have been posting at the same time and I didn't see that you were here yet today. We sure are a glamorous bunch, non?

Honestly I don't know where she gets her height from. Vinnie is only about 5'10 and I am 5'5. I think it must have skipped a generation. My brothers are all tall as is my dad. I think the big thing is she has long legs...Makes her taller I guess.
Moore the shopping trip was nice. We brought a girlfriend of mine along too. It was nice to be out. I completely agree with you on shopping for myself. I hate it, which is why I ended up with things for Jo and not me. Though I do need to try on the maternity pants. I can't just by a size bigger and get away with not trying on for those.

Kae I sure hope that you get to feeling better. I swear these colds just get worse every year. Though I suspect taking it easy this week should help huh?

I can't believe its only 10 in the morning. This day is going slow.

KaeEll, I'm glad you're feeling better, and am impressed with your pile of leaves! Perfect for the "kidneys" to jump in.

Shelly, you just never know which genes are going to surface with kids. Jolene could very well be exhibiting traits from your father and brothers, and I always think it's just so interesting. Except for some very subtle similarities, you might not know that my three are even related! My son and AD look the most alike, but they don't really look alike either -- more in their coloring and height. My son is 6' 3", and AD is 5' 10". The thing is that Jim is of average height, and I'm a little under 5' 8". HOWEVER, my mother was 5' 2", and so was Jim's mother. I could very easily have ended up with three very short kids, given how recessive genes can sometimes work! Our oldest daughter is the shortest of the three, but she's 5' 7"-ish, so she's not short-short.

My father was just under 6' 1", and Jim's father was about 6 feet tall, so again I'm not sure why my two youngest are as tall as they are.

So interesting...

My 3 don't look anything alike either, but Tony and Nick have identical feet, lol. They've got long, long feet just like Ted's sister. Mike looks a little like me but is built like his dad. It's an interesting mix, isn't it?

When I attended a friend's funeral in August, I met her kids for the first time. The husband is from Trinidad, a mix of East Indian and Caribbean and she was Irish. Her son looked exactly like the father and the daughter, exactly like the mom. You just never know...

Oooh, time for Y&R.

That is one of the tough things. Vinnie's biological father left them when he was extremely young so I don't have anything on that side of his family to compare things too. I do think though that Jolene looks a lot like his sister. I had a dream last night that I was having girls. I hope it was just a dream and not a vision of things to come. I want at least 1 boy.

That's so funny, KaeEll. It's really a crazy game of genetic Russian Roulette!

Shelly, I never knew my biological grandfather, so it was very strange trying to figure out who my mother looked like. I'm guessing more like her father because I never thought she looked much like my grandmother. However, I've now seen pictures of my biological grandfather, and I don't see much resemblance to him either, so who knows?

I got to be sick this week. It sucked, so that's what I've been up to.

Bran, I'm sorry if I sneezed on the board and made you sick. Feel better! Was it that disgusting flu going around?
