Cool, grey and rainy here today. And we slept in until after 9, a real rarity. Linens 'n' Things has a going out of business sale on this weekend, so I need to go check that out. Do you guys have that chain of stores near you? They were advertising 70% off the stock!
Last night Ted and I decided to have a big juicy steak for dinner. He went out in the drizzle and bbq'ed a gorgeous black Angus steak for us, brought it in and I cut it in two pieces and left it on the kitchen counter while the both of us came back into the den to watch something on TV that caught our interest. When I went back into the kitchen to serve up the veggies, my piece of steak was gone and Chloe was licking her chops. She ate my dinner right off the counter. Ted was sweet and offered up half of his, but it was my fault for being so careless, so I declined. I had a pile of broccoli and cauliflower and Chloe had my steak. I was really hungry this morning, lol. I won't be doing that again any time soon.
What's going on today? Same old stuff, just as it is here with me?
KaeEll, we used to have several Linens & Things in our area, but many of them went out of business a number of years ago. Too bad too... Now I rely on Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
And naughty Chloe! If it makes you feel any better (and I'm sure it won't because you still missed out on that great steak), Lucy is completey untrustworthy when it comes to this kind of thing. There's no way I would leave anything out on the counter because it would be gone in a flash. My WORST experience was when I left a meatloaf on top of the stove to cool a bit, still in its pan. We heard a crash, and found the pan upside down on the kitchen floor, and a very happy Lucy gulping down as much as she possibly could before the humans put a stop to her party!
Our first dog, Amanda, was completely the opposite. I could leave a plate of cheese and crackers on the coffee table, walk out of the room, and they'd still be there when I returned.

KaeEll, I just read your post to Jim, and he wanted me to tell you about his boyhood dog, a beautiful (BIG) German Shepherd, who was found ON TOP OF THE KITCHEN COUNTER, enjoying an entire Beef Wellington!

Yeah, naughty doggies and dumb humans, lol. Knowing that she shouldn't help herself doesn't override that aroma, lol. Champers used to help himself to tea cookies all the time right off the plate beside my cup even if I was looking right at him. You'd think I'd have learned by now. Wasn't there a Christmas Chevy Chase movie with a dog that ate the Christmas turkey? I'll have to remember to put Chloe in her bedroom that day!
We have a Bed Bath and Beyond near-ish us but it's in that dreaded Mississauga and I really hate driving out there. It's one of those nasty car-dependant places with 6 lane roads everywhere and over-coiffed and over-dressed women in their shiny SUVs and whiny brats in tow. I call them the 905-ers (from the area code out there) and I can spot them a mile away. I am such a nasty snob, lol. Anyway, looks like I'll have to swallow hard and hob-nob with the likes of them after Linens and Things closes up shop.
Guess what? I'm at work making up some hours today. Joy
Hi Bran, didn't see you here when I was posting. Have fun at work. I wonder what Shelly's up to today. I take it that you're all over that bug you had last week?
Well I spent my morning doing a bit of shopping too. Went to Kohls. They are having one of their huge sales. Problem was the things I was looking for they didn't have. I have really been needing to get Jolene some dress/church shoes that she can wear to church throughout the winter. She has sandals but its getting too cold for those. So I left there and we went to Target. Got her some shoes and another dress or two. Another thing she needs since her legs are too long for the ones she had. Plus I finally gave in and got some maternity pants. My regular jeans aren't cutting it anymore.
And I heard about the Linens sale. But am feeling to much anxiety today. Its gloomy and wet out here today as well. So I think that me and miss Jolene will be taking a nap.
Brandon I hope that work is going okay for you and I am sorry to hear about your steak Kae...sounds like it was wonderful
Brandon, I'm sorry about your having to work today. Totally sucks!
KaeEll, our overly dressed ladies tend to live in the McLean/Great Falls area! My BB&B is a little more casual.
Shelly, I'm glad you got yourself some comfortable pants, and that you were finally able to find shoes for Jolene. It's 80 degrees here today, but a cold front is supposed to move in very swiftly tonight, and we may even have frost. We lucked out with the flooding this time, and didn't have to suck water.

Not much going on here...just finished up grocery shopping, and was able to also find me a few shirts and pair of pants. And also found the cutest little outfit for my soon-to-be-here niece Anaya. My sister-in-law is due in about a month.
And speaking of naughty pets, I brought the groceries in and put the cold ones away in the fridge, and left the dry goods out to put away later as I was beat. I came back a bit later to find my grape tomatoes all over the floor clawed to death with juice splattered everywhere. Instead of hiding the evidence, Smoke the cat just played and left them there for me to clean up. Grr. He also clawed up a roll of paper towels. That'll be the last time I leave groceries in paw's reach.
I've never been to a Linens or Things or BB&B. Don't have any around here.
That stinks having to work today, Bran. I like to think I have Sat and Sun off, but in reality, parents never take a day off. LOL.
