Tuesday

Hey guys. What is going on. I actually got pretty good sleep last night. I almost played hooky and stayed home just to sleep. But then that darned steam roller that they are using to dig up and the fix our street was turned on and it vibrated my house. So that was out of the question.

What is everyone up to today? Anything good?

Oh Shelly, nothin' like a steam roller to help you make a decision, lol. I woke up early then went back to bed only to have a horrible dream about being bitten by bees and getting my purse stolen. I'm up now but still groggy. Darn flu still has it's clutches in me somewhat. I think I'll spend yet another day laying low.

I still haven't heard a word from that woman I told you about last week, the one that became enraged over the comment Ted made about the wine bottle vs. the case. I'm not up to listening to her spew of vitriol when she finally deigns to call me. High maintenance friends, eh?

Moore's AD will have her look-see procedure today, so best wishes all around for that Moore.

It's really cold outside and there's something wrong with the damn furnace as the thermostat in the dining room, set for 21, reads that it's 16 degrees in here. Good thing I'll be home all day as the repair guy will come by at some point. Not a very exciting day.

Oh Moore my thoughts are with you. I know AZ is 2 hours behind us but hopefully you will hear news soon.
Kae I sure hope that darned flu bug goes away soon. It has been going on far long enough. I think

Okay, so I am putting together a baked potato bar for dinner tomorrow night at church. Any suggestions anyone on what I should put out. I need to have enough fixings that people get full

I do NOT want to hear about ANYONE'S good night's sleep last night!! LOL...

Jim left at 5:30 a.m., yesterday, so I was really tired by 10:30 pm. I decided to go on up to bed, and read myself to sleep. Just as I was finally dozing off, Lucy began to woof. Woof, woof, woof... I'd already taken her out before bedtime, but I got up, went back downstairs, and she seemed to be perfectly fine, and not asking for anything. So, I went back upstairs, and climbed into bed again. Just as I was about to fall asleep again, "woof, woof, woof..." Got up, went back down, and decided to take her outside again. Mind you, we have a fenced back, so technically I could have simply let her out, but I know this dog's tricks! She would have done one of two things: she would have begun barking incessantly at some middle-of-the-night squirrel which would not make the neighbors happy, or she would have hidden under the deck, thereby rendering her black self invisible in the middle of a dark night, while refusing to come inside. No way was I going to risk either of those possibilities, so I attached her leash, and took her out front. She peed. Good...

I took Lucy back in, and put her "to bed" again, and went up. Once again, I got my weary self settled back down, turned off the light, and tried to sleep.

Woof.

Shit!
(No, you didn't hear me say that...)

Back down the stairs, and now Lucy is pacing frantically, so I attached the leash once again, and in my nighty and robe (again), and a jacket over it all (because it was freaking COLD last night), I took her back outside.

Let's just say that she had an "upset stomach". She and I finally went to sleep at about 1:00 a.m., but she was woofing again at 8:00 a.m., and flat-out STINKS, so I'm going to have to address that little issue here shortly.

I'm absolutely exhausted, and praying that my coffee kicks in shortly because I really didn't want to begin this day at half power. I have a doll club meeting tomorrow, and have some preparations to make for that, and I feel like a Zombie.

For the baked potato bar, first things that spring to mind are sour cream, shredded cheddar, bacon bits, chopped chives, maybe some kind of a salsa. Does that help?

Moore, we were posting at the same time, so I just saw yours now. Poor old Lucy and poor you!! it always happens when the guys are away, non? Last time Chloe pulled that on me, she got sprayed by a skunk in the back corner of the back yard. Good thing you had her on her leash!! It would be lovely if the doggies' dietary indiscretions stopped after puppyhood, but alas...

Please keep us updated on AD. I feel as if I'm sitting by the phone right along with you.

Oh dear heavens Moore, I sure hope you may be able to take a nap at some time today. I don't think this helps but last night was my first decent night sleep since Vinnie left 2 weeks ago.

Thanks for those few items kae. I need to make sure I make a list so that I don't forget anything this time. I think I am going to buy a couple bags of broccoli and get some nacho cheese as well as the shredded cheese. I just got a small crock pot last week and I think it should work for the cheese.

My father just last night gave me a 5.5 quart crock pot!! Shelly, we really seem to be having that synchronicity thing going this week, lol. I have wanted one for ages and he found this one on sale at Canadian Tire and gave it to Ted last night when he went to take out their bins for waste collection this morning. I have NO IDEAS for what to cook in it other than a beef stew. It came with a small recipe book with things like parsnip and carrot soup - not my gangs' idea of yummy, lol.

Help?

Shelly, I'm actually very happy that you finally got a decent night's sleep. Just wanted to "share" my own little experience! KaeEll, you're absolutely right that these things ALWAYS happen when father is away. I swear the puppies just sense their mommy's new vulnerabilities.

Now, I'm hungry with all of this talk of baked potatoes, bacon, sour cream, etc. It would make a nice breakfast, don't you think?? Shelly, you could also offer some chili, and chopped jalapenos to add, especially since you already have the cheese available.

Thanks for your good wishes with AD. I'm going to call her in about fifteen minutes (which, of course, will probably be the worst possible timing, and will earn me a snarky remark) to wish her well, and to send telephone hugs and kisses. I'll keep you guys posted. Of course, I'm a mess, but I'm so grateful that Jim is already out there! By the way, former boyfriend Bryce is driving her to the hospital... He took the day off to do it, and Jim told them to go ahead with their plans. He's not out there to intrude, but to be present, and to do whatever AD might need. Bryce is apparently freaked out over the idea of meeting the father of the girl he recently dumped, but our daughter has tried to reassure him that it's perfectly okay, and he won't be shot on sight.

Well I am glad you shared your story, though I just wish it involved more sleep. I really do hope you are at least able to get a cat nap in at some point today. I like the idea of the chili. Though i think I will just get some canned stuff, or that stuff in the cartons. I wanted to add some kind of protein because we have some good eaters at church. I am hoping to be able to come across some of those gigantic potatoes. Maybe I will do jalapenos too, or maybe I will get some of the pickled kind. What do you think. I don't look forward to cutting them. I always forget to wash my hands after. Ouch.

Oh please do let us know how A-D is doing. What time is her surgery? Do you know which hospital she is in?

Shelly, you could get the canned slices for the jalapenos, and not even bother to chop them up. Just drain them. You can find already-chopped jalapenos in cans, but they're probably a bit too mushy to spoon on top of potatoes.

You know -- I'm not sure of the name of the hospital, but I think that it's in Chandler. I forgot to ask because everyone has cell phones! I'll ask Jim when I talk to him again. Her surgery was moved up from 2:00 pm to 12:30 pm, and they're all already at the hospital. So, that's 2:30 pm east coast time.

Shelly, she was just taken back there, and she's at Chandler Regional.

In the meantime, she had a kidney episode (she's had a long history of kidney issues), and was in such pain that she needed two nurses to attend to her. They did a quick blood test, and she does have evidence of an infection, but no fever, so they're still able to do the surgery.

Again -- I am SO glad that Jim is out there.

They were through in about half an hour, and she's currently in recovery. No endometriosis in sight, and her doctor said that everyone's insides should look as good as hers.

So we're all very relieved, but she's going to be pissed off because now she has no answers. But, I think it's excellent news!!

That's wonderful news, Moore. Phew!!

Since the doctors can't find anything wrong, would AD consider alternative medicine treatments for her specific discomfort? I won't get up on my soap box, but they worked extremely well for me, and I had a health issue that kept me housebound for the better part of 3 years. They are non-invasive, work on the energy level of the body.

I'll ask her, KaeEll, but right now I don't think that she wants to hear any suggestions me or her dad. She was so convinced that she had endometriosis that she didn't even want to listen to the possibility that she didn't! I'm wondering if some of her symptoms were linked to this convinction of hers.

She's back home now. Bryce drove her, and Jim is getting some prescriptions filled. Then he will stay there with Bryce for at least a little while (I'm sure she's sleeping), and then her girlfriend Ali will spend the night on the couch.
