This year, our daughter's boyfriend, Loren, won the coveted title of "Best Gingerbread House". (I'll post pictures tomorrow.)
He won for best use of color, effort, and detail for "Foreclosure House".
Okay, so it's not the most Christmassy theme, but then his first year's effort ("Nuclear House") wasn't all that celebratory either. Fortunately, that's not the basis of our judging.

Yes, one needs to be current with one's gingerbread houses!!
My son's was similar in theme, although fell short with use of color, etc. His was "Rescue House" (saved through bailout funds). He left a large gap in the roof because his house could only be entered by use of a golden parachute.
