Last Monday in February...already

Can you guys believe its almost the end of the month already..Good news is that means winter has to be almost over, right? Work, once again is boring but I am still getting paid so I am trying to not complain.

Anyways, I just got a call from the doctor. My 3 hour glucose test came back normal...Phew. Seriously. And the iron pills seem to be doing what they are suppose to do. So that is good too. Oh, and we only have 10 weeks until we are in the "safe" zone for delivery. The doctor is most worried about making it to 36 weeks. Everything after that is good. Hard to believe. And with the no diabetes results I feel like I won't have a problem making it that far...

What is everyone else up to?

Hey Shelly. I had some serious health issues last night, ended up in hospital with an asthma attack. All to do with stress, doing too much for everyone else, not enough rest etc. My friend Christine came by for a few hours today to take care of me. I have bathroom and internet privileges, period.

My parents, in spite of me begging them not to, came over for dinner again last night, oblivious to my pleas as it didn't sit well with their own whims. By 2 a.m. I was on oxygen and medication in the hospital. Not a fun night. I'm still wheezing but at least have a puffer I can rely upon every 4 hours or so. I have zero energy. Stress is the enemy, no question.

Shelly, so relieved you are almost home free with the babies!! I can't wait to see their little faces.

Oh dear heavens....what a night for you. I am so sorry to hear about your evening activities....But at the same time now people know that you really need to rest and don't need to be taking care of them. Hopefully they will listen this time. And YAH for Christine for taking care of you. I can imagine how nice it was to have someone helping you instead of asking you for help. Jeez...I will pray for you to feel better and that you will be able to rest as much as you need to.

This has been a huge red flag. My days of running from one generation to another to save their butts is over. Finally, I'm going to take care of myself and let the others figure out how to take care of themselves.

Do you remember that bathroom renovation we started a year ago? Well, part way through it, Ted called it all off. We even had our basement floor ripped up and replaced to "fix" a sewer smell, and then mildew and mould stench took over. Every time I went down there, the mould would make me gag. THAT was the main catalyst. I called Maria in and she is down there right now doing her best to bleach it to death. I know it's a band aid solution, but as the smell of bleach takes over this house, I can almost feel my lungs open up.

Oh my God, KaeEll. I had no idea!! I'm so sorry you went through that ordeal, but am grateful to know that you're okay. Stress can definitely cause some dramatic physical reactions. This is a huge red flag for you to put your foot down with certain commitments, and let others carry the load. You deserve a little peace and quiet, and the next time your parents want to drop in for dinner, they can drop in on a locked house because you and Ted need to be toasting each other over last-minute dinner reservations at a divine little French bistro.

Shelly, good news for you! YAY...

I hope that Maria was able to get some of the smell out anyways...And I hope you are truly relaxing. And if you need to relax even further I could get by without your daily Y&R goodies...I mean I love them dearly but love you more and want you to get rest whenever possible

Just as an update, the puffer isn't doing a very good job and I'm still struggling with wheezing. I have to wait another 24 hours, so until then I am confined to the sofa or my bed. At least I slept last night, first time in a week, so that's good.

That's not fun, KaeEll.

Jim and I are both highly allergic to cats, and both had occasional asthma as children. I think that Jim had it more frequently than I did, but whenever I caught a cold, it would go straight into asthma because we had both a dog and a cat as pets. I would build up certain immunities to the cat under normal circumstances, but once I got sick, my immunities would fly out the window, and I'd begin with the wheezing.

When Arizona-daughter was a little girl, she spent the night with a friend who had a cat. The next morning, AD sat on my lap to tell me about her adventures. Within a few minutes, my eyes began to water, then itch. I began to sniffle, and then I broke out in hives. And I wasn't even in direct contact with the cat!! If I were to pet one, or pick one up, I'd need to borrow your puffer, KaeEll.

Take it easy. Maybe you should tell your doctor that the puffer isn't working. He/she might be able to prescribe a different medication. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. I think that you and Ted should consider fleeing to the Bahamas for a little break!

Me too, me too, super duper allergic to cats. When I was in Ann Arbor visiting a friend's farm, I went into the barn to visit with the horses, left in 10 minutes hardly able to breathe. On my way to the Detroit airport to fetch Ted an hour later ( in my car), a tractor trailer nearly drove me off the road and the adrenaline from the close call knocked the asthma right out. Of course, friend kept lots of cats in the barn to keep down the vermin population. She forgot to mention that.

My puffer is ventolin, weakest dosage. I'll give it another day and if not doing the trick I'll head back to the clinic for a stronger one.

The Trail Blazers rode into town. They come from the northwest part of Texas on horses and covered wagons. They stop in the town adjacent to Houston. There is music, line dancing and square dancing. Different groups ride in from different directions from every direction and head downtown for the annual rodeo in downtown Houston. So, that is were I was this afternoon! The weather was very pleasant for this event.

This past December we had a flood in our basement in our house in Ohio. Our son frequently checks our house. That's how we knew. So, we drove up there to repair the damage. While driving there (its a 21-hour trip one way) our right back tire blew out. We were between Louisville and Cincinnati. When my husband went to get the spare under our SUV, he saw that the cable had been cut and the tire with the wheel had been stolen. In about five minutes along came a flatbed truck with a hydraulic lift. He helped us get to a tire place. All this was very expensive.

Meanwhile, I recommend a dehumidifier for your basement. The mold can't grow without moisture. A good place to look for one is: www.craigslist.com
