I'm off my usual Friday duties today!! YAY!! Good thing too because it's so mucky out there at +9C, and it rained almost all night long. The only snow left is the great piles from the shovelling and it's looking pretty rotten right now. Of course the weather people warned everyone not to get too excited about spring as we're going to be dipping down below freezing in a day or two. Of course, keep us all humble up here. lol.
So what's on the docket today guys? I'm bumming around, taking my meds, having a nice cuppa tea later with a friend. We discovered these yummy little cookies, lemon and ginger, packaged up in 100 calorie packs, about 8 wee cookies, and just perfect with tea. I'm such a cheap date these days, lol. So little gets me excited.
Oh, Mike has been accepted at the University of Auckland to finish up his dissertation there. He'll only need to be there for 4 months at a time, and can do it over our winters up here, summers down there. Kind of perfect, non? There's a gang of PhD students that hang out in Raglan, a surfers' community 4 hours south of Auckland where Mike and Maya have access to that little blue beach house. There are cafes and jazz pubs there, lots of little shops, a real paradise. It sure beats the dog eat dog hell hole that U of Toronto has become. He's happy, and he'll be home here in 6 days. YAY! Maya is to follow him here in a month. Here's hoping they fins suitable accommodations somewhere not here, lol. I love having my babies home, but not the added baggage.
I'm glad you're off duty today, and hope you're feeling a bit better. Modern medicine can be very effective when it's needed, and PROPERLY prescribed!
I have a doll class tomorrow, but it's in Rockville, MD, not all the way up in the ends-of-the-earth, MD. We're supposed to get some sleet tomorrow night, but it shouldn't arrive until I'm back home. This class is at the home of a new member of our club who's a well-known dollmaker. Well, she's well known within in the dollmaking community! She lived in Oregon, then moved to Germany for a few years, and moved to the DC area last fall. Judi's Dolls
Tomorrow's class is on designing a doll from scratch.
KaeEll, YAY for Mike! (*claps*)

Adorable dolls, Moore. Judi will be a real asset to your club.
I included that pic to show you what my life has been reduced to these days, lol. I have to fill out that chart twice a day, puff the meds, swallow the pills, etc. Cookies keep me sane. Now it's time for the prednisone that I have to take on a full tummy, so I'll go heat up some leftovers from dinner last night. I do feel quite a bit better today.
I figured that was a current representation of your way of life! LOL... (And I just had some leftovers too.) I couldn't tell where the picture was taken though, and decided that you must be living on a balcony now. Like Juliet! Very romantic, KaeEll (pills aside)...

The picture was taken on the kitchen counter, Moore. Here are a couple of pics of my tres chic poodle, Chloe, fresh from the poodle parlour yesterday and making herself quite comfortable on our bed, without the coverlet on. I had the good sense to leave it off when it looked like she had taken up permanent residence in our bedroom. Note the haughty expression on her face. How dare I disturb her beauty rest with that pesky flashy thing. Harumph.
Moore those dolls are adorable. Hope the class is a fun one. I am not sure what my weekend will bring. I need to start putzing in the guest room which will become the nursery. I need to rearrange things well enough to be able to keep a queen size bed in there along with one of the cribs. We will be having family here until about a month after the babies are born so we need to keep the spare bed up. But I am anxious to put the bedding inside the crib, my mom found the cutest Precious Moments Noah's Ark material and is making our curtains now. I need to go get some of the stickers that you can just peel off when you are done. I found some with some neat animals on it.
Kae you look like you might be able to open up a pharmacy soon. I hope they are at least helping. And Chloe looks very much at home in "her" bed
Thanks, Moore, I like that headboard too. I found it at The Art Shop on sale about 15 years ago and have liked it every day since. I usually have an ecru monochromatic quilt on the bed with some pretentious french name I can never remember how to spell, matte leesay is how it sounds. I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Shelly, don't you need two cribs? Or will you put one baby in the crib and another in a little cradle thing for the first while? Good thing you'll have help for the first few weeks. Who's coming? When's the official due date?
I will need two, and I actually have 2 now. But everyone says you are suppose to keep twins together. So they will both be in the same bed. A friend said that at about 4 months, one of hers would wake up the other one.
My mom is coming for the birth and 2 weeks after. Then Vinnie's parents will be here for 2 weeks. So a good month with help.
The babies are due on May 29th. But as long as they make it to May 1st the doctor will be happy. I guess everyone expects twins to be super early. So at the moment our first goal is to get past 36 weeks. Which is only like 8 weeks away.
Yeah, 36 weeks is the crucial length of time. Our d-i-l barely made it that long with both kids. I'm more than sure you'll do just perfectly getting there, Shelly.
I'm more than a little upset that the friend who was supposed to come for tea today neither came nor called. She tends to be extremely self-centred most of the time, and having just recently inherited a rather sizeable fortune, she got a touch worse. I try to be understanding, but some days.... Today I could really have done with the company.
Shelly, that's so great that you'll have your mom there for a couple of weeks. That will definitely help lift a lot of the burden of going from one to three kids, and let you get a bit of sleep. I'm sure that you're going to make to the critical thirty-six weeks just fine! You looked great when I saw you.
