Friday brings some good news!

North Carolina daughter called about an hour ago, and she's got a job, as a result of the interview she went on the other day!! Thank you for your positive thoughts.

Tomorrow is Arizona Daughter's 21st birthday. Can't believe it...

YAH, what a relief. Is it a good job? What will she be doing? I am so happy for all of you guys.

And I hope AZ-D has some fun plans for this weekend. Lucky her to have her birthday on a weekend

Fantastic news, Moore! What a blessed relief for all of you! Please tell NCD that we applaud her and wish her all the best of luck. And Happy BD AZD. Now she's 21 and vaccinated, Moore, watch out, hun.

Got my hair done today and as great as it feels, it doesn't make up for the hideous PUFF from the *&^%$$# steroids I've been taking. I can't wait for this to be over.

MYSTERY solved. That little dooddlie dad thingy came from the front hall light fixture. It was one of 8 little rivet thingies and Maria knew it straightaway the second she saw it. I am now officially stupid beyond words.

Well since Maria cleans those light fixtures she should know what it looks like. She is probably the one who accidentally knocked it loose.

YAY -- mystery solved!! Now aren't you glad you didn't throw it away? You must also feel very good about being all glammed up again.

Shelly, NCD is going to be doing essentially the same thing she was before. She'll be doing editing for an ad agency, and it's located not far from the one she worked for before. This one is bigger, though. Unfortunately, although she's full time, and the pay is the same, it's currently without benefits. As I understand it, that may change later, but we're not quibbling right now! She's employed, and fairly quickly at that. Whew!!

AZ daughter had an early celebration last weekend when a friend threw her a party. Spring break begins today, so a lot of her friends will be leaving town. Kyle, however, is taking her to dinner tomorrow night, and Jim and I are going to treat both of them. Then, next weekend, AZD and our son are going to Las Vegas.

Yep... Our son is flying out to Phoenix, and then they'll drive up together. One of Jim's acquaintances out there (someone he hasn't even seen in a couple of years) has offered up her HOME, and has even gotten the kids some tickets to a show. (I don't know which one.)

Okay, so now I need everyone's advice. WHAT do I get this nice lady, someone I don't even know, who's taking in not one but TWO of my children into her own home as a thank-you gift??? I know nothing about her, and Jim knows very little. I can't even believe that she's nice enough to do this, but she says that she has a large house, and frequently has guests. So...

But what do I get her???!!!???

FANTASTIC NEWS, MOORE! I'm so happy for AD!

And about the gift...It's certainly harder when you don't know much about the person. Maybe a nice plant, flower arrangement or a gift card? I don't know.

I hope you all are well!

Moore, what about a lovely big basket filled with yummies and wines (if she likes wines) with chocolates, biscuits, nuts, all kids of little things one often won't buy themselves. I'll see if I can find a good web site.

One Christmas, a grateful couple of brothers that Ted did some extra freelance work for, sent us a basket like that and I'll never forget it. Ooh, it had some really good jam in there too. And now I use the empty basket for toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom.

Great idea, KaeEll. I'll mention it to Jim. I don't know if he knows whether she likes wine or not, but he might!

Thanks!

Well, Jim has no idea whether or not this lady (Tina) likes wine because, as he put it, "I haven't been out drinking with her", but gave me some additional details on what kind of person she is. It's no surprise to me now that she's offered up her home to two of our kids! Jim met this woman at a conference here in Washington, DC in 2005. I won't bore you with all of the details, but anyway she was very friendly, and after two days of chatting, it came out that she had given a lobe of her liver to her toddler son who'd been on a donation list for over a year. There was even some local press on the story in Las Vegas.

She told Jim way back then that she and her husband have "plenty of room" in a house right on a golf course, just outside of town. Jim and I located the place on Google a little while ago, and suffice it to say that I'm not concerned anymore about "putting her out". The place is MASSIVE!

I like the gift basket idea, KaeEll.

If nothing else, gift cards are always good. They have a Ruth's Chris in AZ. You could send her to dinner and a movie. Let us know what you decide.

I hope AZ-D is having a great birthday

SO EMBARRASSING!!

Ummm............. AD's birthday is tomorrow.

Okay -- YES -- I know when my daughter's birthday is. It's March 8th. YES, I remember her birth VERY clearly (she was a C-section), and YES I remember the date.

Even though I have her birthday memorialized on my calendar with a huge circle around the date, and even though that circle appears on SUNDAY, for some reason I had fixed in my mind that it was going to be on SATURDAY.

Last night, before going to bed, I said to Jim "just one more hour!!". He said "????????". I repeated, "just one more hour!!" Again with the "??" I assumed that he was just being difficult, so I spelled it out for him.

Then he spelled it out for me...

Okay, I've had a lot on my mind lately.

March 8th. It falls on a SUNDAY this year. Tomorrow.

Ok so guys, I got to see the kids on the 5th. We had court that day. I had a lawyer he did not so he asked for a continuance until he could get one. Sooo no hearing. Cody will be talking to the judge no matter what though. However Decatur lawyer (I have a team kinda now) did get me visitation. I got the kids from friday until Saturday at noon and Bethany is very very mad at Floyd in fact she begged and cried and pleaded with him to not have to go with him.

Ok so get this also .. While he was at the house he tells me that I'm such a good mother.. he loves me and was surprised that I did not have my ring on.

I am definitely telling my lawyer and the judge about the good mother thing. I asked him if this was all the case why he got an order of protection against me and his response was that he got scared or something. He didn't want things to be like this. My response was plain and simple that it did not have to be. I had planned on making this as easy on him as we could but nooooo! Anywho I think he realizes he doesn't stand a chance and he's asking to possibly sit down with me and talk .. well i told him not without my lawyer of course. The whole thing just proves that his order of protection should be pretty easy ot overturn. If I was such a danger to him or the kids he would have asked for supervised visitation with the children. Anyway I like my Decatur lawyer. He's really informative and nice. Made me feel soooo very comfortable with the process. I was scared to death at first and he helped me get my confidence up and feel like that courtroom was all mine.

So the kids got absolutely spoiled and the day that I had them. We went to the mall. I got their hair cut, we rode the carousel, and I bought them pretzels. I also got them the new Madagascar movie and some hair ties for Bethany and nailpolish. My second day I had to work so they got to sleep over at my mom's which made her day! Before then though my friend Will treated us to Olive Garden.

I have some wheels for a little while. This same friend lost his license in November for 6 months so until May I have his car. Only stipulation is that I have to take him to work or give him a ride if he needs. He's Nora's brother. Their whole family has been just amazing through this whole ordeal. It's like having a second family lol.

Anyways I have lots to do so wish me luck and I'll be back shortly with more of an update.. hopefully instead of "visitation" it'll be all about the custody :) gotta get this stupid order of protection dropped first

Hang in there Jessica! I'm so glad that you have a good lawyer (and one that you like), but am sorry that you and the kids are going through all of this.

Keep us posted...

Moore - I, too, have NC daughters. They both live in Charlotte and both are teachers, and both are married. One is a licenced Geologist and teaches high school science. The other teaches middle school English.

Jessica - Good luck! Its sounds like you can handle things very well.

Aw, Jess. Hang in there honey. This is so terrible, but I'm glad you at least got to see the kiddos. So unfair that they are not with you.
