Well it seems my time in New England will be coming to an end at the end of this year. Vinnie got orders for Chesapeake Virginia. We will be moving somewhere between November and January. So we will be moving just 10 hours south with the little ones. Not too bad, and this is a shore tour so Vinnie will get to be home for the next 3 years. I am very excited.
Anyways, that is my latest news. Everything else is good. We have 7 weeks until it is safe for these little ladies to come out. But 9 weeks until my mom gets here.
Fantastic news, Shelly!! So wonderful that you'll have Vinnie around for three years too. What a relief to know what's going to happen in that regard, non?
Will the Navy help the move with vans and the like, or are you guys completely on your own? Will you know what kind of housing or is that to be a big surprise? Will they allow you a 3 bedroom place this time?
Chesapeake is gorgeous! You're going to love all that seafood, too.
Well we have a 3 bedroom now, so if we get into housing it will probably be at least 3. I am hoping for 4 because right now our 3rd bedroom has the spare queen bed in it and it would be nice to have somewhere to put it besides the garage. The Navy will move everything. Apparently we are actually stuck on the east coast because our family is now too big to move all the way across the country. Which is fine, Virginia has really good schools so that makes me really happy. Plus I will be living within like 20 minutes of Sharon. Which means Jolene will be really close to her cousin. Its just awesome all around.
Oh, and yes. Love the seafood, and not only that but I will have my sister to eat it with since Vinnie won't.
Hello, Shelly! How are feeling? You will get nicer winter weather in Virginia. I just moved from an apartment to a house we bought. Its only about 5 miles away. The big move will be when we sell our other house in Ohio. The company that transferred him to Houston would not help us move at all. Its not that they are so poor. Its AT&T!
Sundancer, if I had to move out of this house, I'd probably decide to jump off a bridge instead!! We moved into this house a year after we were married, and have managed to accumulate so much stuff since then (a gazillion years ago) that I don't think I could go through it all, and keep my sanity. Then there's the issue of what to keep and what to toss. That's a huge challenge all by itself. And we have other "stuff" that we inherited from Jim's parents (mine was already incorporated into the mix because I lost both of my parents early in life), so...
Good luck with that!!
I wish our kids were in a permanent enough location themselves so that I could begin handing out stuff with some confidence that it would be used and cared for.

LOL, Moore, you little pack rat! Ted has always said that a move is as good as a fire for paring down the collectibles, and he's so right. We moved 3 times since 1995, this being our last one and we bought this place in 2001 and wow, we have downsized like mad. Well, except for thinking that we'd got the last of the kids gone but they keep coming back...another story, lol.
I made the stupid mistake of giving one d-i-l, the one that is no longer a d-i-l, a ton of family heirlooms then she bogged off with all of them. Be careful, okay?
Moore - I know what you mean. We have a house just east of Cleveland in the snow belt which we built in 1977-78. When the winter winds come off Lake Erie, that area gets snow dumped on it! Anyway, we raised four kids there. My husband was in the middle of remodeling when he had to relocate in January 2005. I flew down there a month later, but only stayed for two weeks. In October of that same year I packed up what I thought I'd need and what could fit in my Malibu sedan. I still had an adult daughter living there. Then I drove the 21-hour trip alone. That was very stressful. After being in a small apartment for two weeks, my husband rushed me to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack. At first so did the docotors. It turned out I was having a gall bladder attack. I was lucky to get a good surgeon. He said he got many of his patients referrals from cardiologists because of the severe chest pain.
Well, here I am 3.5 years later. I still go back there in the summer. My daughter, Brenda has sinced moved to Chicago and now San Francisco. I have three jobs in Ohio in the summer----one week days and the other two by appointment. My son (Eric) lived there the next year. Now he is nearby and keeps a watch on the house. I play tennis four mornings a week before going to work (weather permitting). And, ocassionally go swing dancing---once a week or so. While living in Houston, this is my fourth year that I work part time teaching swimming. I do some line dancing, square dancing, and some ballroom dancing. This probably too much for you all to read, so enough for now!
that is one good thing about the military, they kind of force you to go through stuff. We really don't have a lot of things that we don't need and yet still have boxes in the garage
Sundancer, that made me tired! I'm glad that your attack (if you had to have one) was with your gall bladder and not your heart. What a crazy time for you!
I'd love to find somewhere to do some dancing. You sound like you're having a lot of fun with that! Good for you to get out there, and have fun after raising your family, moving, working, etc. You deserve to have fun.
