Thursday

Isn't this the last official day of winter? Spring equinox is tomorrow? "Bout time, huh?

I'm home all day with Maria today. Ted had an urgent work call at 8 so he's beavering away downstairs. Mike's in New Brunswick, Tony's home, Nick's in BC, I assume, lol. I haven't talked to him since Sunday night and he was cooking a birthday dinner for an unnamed young lady friend. Or at least I hope she's a lady and not some wanton floozy out to take advantage of my baby.

So what's on for today?

Oh, Moore, I bought the marmalade but it isn't ginger, just orange. Can I put some grated fresh ginger root in there? I thought I'd make the butter cake tomorrow evening.

I wouldn't put grated ginger root in there, KaeEll. Just make an orange version this time. It really needs the ginger marmalade that's all ginger, but I don't see why you couldn't substitute orange Boterkoek. Could be very interesting, as a matter of fact, and I'm tempted to try it myself!!

Okay, thanks. I couldn't fine any ginger marmalade, but did find some tangerine which I think I'd like as well. I'll let you know how it goes.

Where's Shelly this morning?

I am here, having a hard time getting my body going. Really just want to go back to sleep. We are supposed to get dumped on at some point this morning. Explains why I would rather just be in bed. And of course with no work to do it makes it worse.

Thank goodness for the first day of spring huh...I saw last weekend the little green buds of my daffodils and tulips. We also had a pretty little Cardinal at the feeder, surely this means Spring can't be too far off.

I am going to a charity type dinner tonight with church. Its for a company called Care Net. They are a company that offers alternatives to people instead of getting abortions. And they offer counseling to people who have had an abortion. Its a great company. And the dinner is at the Mystic Marriott. So that will be nice.

Hey, has anyone heard from Sophia in recent months?

Had to change so that it didn't sound like I was making dinner...Am too tired for that

Not a peep, Shelly, but she is active on Facebook and recently became friends with a former member here. She is also on a forward list that I'm on too, so I see her name every week or so, just no contact.

The charity dinner sounds great! Do you have to cook or is the hotel providing the food?

I'm SO relieved that spring is nearly here. Our forsythia is blooming, and that cheers me up every morning! The birds are singing, and it's a wonderful sound to hear first thing in the morning.

I miss Tess/Sophia! I wish she'd check in, and bring us up to date with what's going on. I know she works too hard.

Shelly, what are you making for the dinner?

I will need to try and add her to facebook. I hope she is doing alright and isn't working her fingers to the bone.

And no, thank goodness I don't have to cook. The whole thing will be taken care of by the hotel. Its a free dinner but the organization expects good donations. So it should be nice. Our church actually has 17 people attending. So we should be able to raise a decent amount from just our church. Will be cool.

Did you guys get to watch DWTS this week yet? I was over at the SOC board that allows you to talk about reality shows and people were talking about how Julianne's pants made her look fat. I mean really, I don't think the girl has an ounce of fat on her body.

Julianne is thin as a rail. Looking fat? I don't think so. That's ridiculous. Maybe the outfit was unflattering, but she did not look fat. It's a shame that we have so many words to choose from in English and yet some choose to assign such an overused term like "fat" when so many others would have been more descriptive.

Did you watch AI last night? It seems the rumour that AI was fixed to have Alexis and Danny Gokey battle it out for number one was put to rest when Alexis was sent home last night. I think it ought to have been Michael Sarver, as likable as he is, he doesn't have the voice Alexis does. So, is AI really fixed and the network decided to nix the notion, or was it planned all along to have people talk?

How did you like Carrie Underwood's wig and hair doodad last night? Does she need a new stylist or what?? EEK. Bad taste on wheels, lol.

Yeah, the pants accentuated her hips which I guess made her look like her rear was big. I kind of figure when doing these kinds of dances that shaking your hips is a lot easier when you have them. She looked amazing and in that dance she showed the audience and viewers why it is that she has won the show twice. I feel bad for her though, her partner and boyfriend this season really doesn't have it the way she does.

And no, I kind of gave up on AI. I don't know if its fixed but from what I have heard it is almost impossible to get through to vote. I have voted for DWTS and its not like that. I get through pretty easily.

And yes, while I love Carrie's music especially her rendition of a Randy Travis classic. I am kind of tired of her, and have heard that she is far from as sweet as she looks.
