Next month on the 14th I will be flying to San Francisco. My daughter, Brenda will be having surgery on her ankle. Since she is very new to the city and doesn't know a lot of people, she was literally crying and begging me to be there with her. We are a bit financially strapped, but somehow will figure out a way (parents are like that)! We always do. This surgery is the result of the taxi cab hitting her a year and a half ago while she was walking in a crosswalk in Chicago after work. The surgeon was referred by her doctor in Chicago who operated on her shoulder. All this is on her left side and she is right handed.
Well, have a fun trip..Keep us posted as we get closer to the date. The only place I have ever been in San Fran is the airport. Its nice and small, and the USO there is really nice.
I will pray for you to find an easy way to get out there.
What hospital is Brenda going to for the surgery? (Used to live there, know a bit about the town.) Will you be able to stay at your daughter's place while there? How long will she be incapacitated?
Good luck to all of you. And yep, that is what parents do. :)
Oh my goodness! Poor Brenda... Of course she's nervous about having surgery in a new city, and of course you, as a worried parent will be there for her! You're right, that's what we do as parents because we never stop worrying.
Brenda is absolutely gorgeous, by the way! Where does she fall in your line-up of children?
I haven't been to San Francisco since the first year Jim and I were married, but absolutely fell in love with it. I'd love to go back one day. I think you'll really enjoy seeing it, once you get the anxiety of the surgery out of the way. We'll be thinking of both you and Brenda, so please do keep us posted.

I don't know the name of the hospital. I will ask her and let you know. I will be staying at my daughter's apartment. Her roommate (Kate) will be out of town and offered me her bed to use. I don't think she will be in the hospital very long, but will need to use crutches for six weeks.

I have never been to San Francisco either (except the airport on the way to Hawaii), but have been to Los Angeles and San Diego. Brenda is our third of four children. Thanks for the compliment on Brenda. When someone compliments her in that way, she says she just inerited it! Here is another better and recent picture of her:
The only hospitals I ever had any experience with down there were Kaiser Permanente in Oakland and John Muir in Walnut Creek - had a baby there in the one, leg broken in ski accident in the other. I'm sure St. Mary's is a good one though.
Will you stay there for the entire time Brenda is on crutches? She's so lucky it isn't her driving foot she'll have out of commission. That's a total pain when that happens.

She will be on crutches for six weeks. I will be heading back to Houston on Monday. April 20. I think that my husband and employer would miss me for any time longer!

Well, she's gorgeous Sundancer, and I know that she DID get all of her great looks from you!
Thanks, Moore! You're too nice. I wish that was true.
