Good morning everyone! Here we are, on the first day of April. We had a beautiful day here in Massachusetts yesterday. It was sunny and 60 degrees.
My Tess made it through her surgery! They believe that they got all of the cancer, and removed three tumors. She weighed 103 going into surgery, and 96 when we were leaving. Her liver is significantly enlarged, with her enzymes really high, but they think that it is related to fat deposits, so hopefully with the prescription dog food for rapid weight loss we will see a change in those in a month.
The recovery is going to be gross. She has two drains in her, which I had never seen before, and hope to never see again. They are there to drain any fluid out, that may form, in the space that the largest tumor was. I will not gross you out, but very disgusting. She goes back on Saturday to have those removed. My poor beautiful girl has about 40% of her fur shaved off, and looks really odd. She is a mix of German Shepard and Husky, so she is VERY furry. She has one of those cone things on her neck, to stop her from licking the area of the surgery. I will try to snap a picture of her later, it is very odd.
My other two dogs, Dorie and Pilgrim are being wonderful with her. They are being so gentle, and just giving her kisses and lots of space. They were so sweet when we came home. They definitely realized that she was not home, and were very worried, and relieved to see her.
Anyway, I am working from home today. I have a ton of paperwork that I need to get done, so hopefully I will be able to lock myself away and get it done. We will see how the day progresses. I have a project, which we have been working on for over a year, that is going into the final phase of testing today, so that may throw a wrench into my plans for a calm quiet day.
Good morning Sophia...its so great to have you regularly with us posting again. You were missed for sure. The weather was great down our way yesterday as well, although today looks like rain. Which is good to me, I long for my green grass and the pretty flowers everywhere. So good to hear about Tess, glad she made it okay. And thanks for not going into the gory details regarding her drain. I think my imagination is working just fine anyways.
The retched people on the radio were trying to tell everyone that we have a huge snow storm tomorrow. Jeez, I am so sick of snow...thank goodness it was just an April Fools day thing.
Everyone, make sure to be careful about what you open in emails and what not today. I know I read something Brandon said about having a good security program should be enough to keep you safe. But just in case, I have no faith in Pfizer. No telling what the security is like here. Could have been another thing they cut down on.
Here is a funny I just got from my mom...had to pass it along.
Charley, a new retiree greeter at Walmart, just couldn't seem to get to >> work >> on time. Every day he was 5, 10, sometimes 15 minutes late. But he was a >> good worker, really tidy, clean shaven, sharp minded and a real credit to >> the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" >> policies. >> >> One day the boss was in a real quandary about how to deal with it. >> Finally, he called him into the office for a talk. "Charley, I have to >> tell you, I like your work ethic. You do a bang-up job, but your being >> late so often is quite bothersome." >> >> "Yes, I know boss, and I am working on it." >> >> "Well good. You are a team player. That's what I like to hear. It's odd >> though, your coming in late. I know you're retired from the Armed >> Forces. What did they say if you came in late there?" >> >> "They said, 'Good morning, General.... Tea or coffee this morning, sir?'
Sophia, what great news about sweet Tess and the surgery. Isn't it amazing how the other 2 dogs behave so lovingly towards their friend, Tess? Mankind could take a lesson from dogs.
It's rainy and dreary here today but no complaints as the trees and flower beds are grateful. I'm staying in for the most part as tomorrow will be busy with a doctor appointment at 1 and a visit out to Mrs. Roy afterwards. She is helping me with a really delicate mess involving my parents. My parents, who were not exactly supportive or reliable when I was growing up, in fact, quite the opposite, are now more trouble and cause more grief than I could ever have imagined. Most of it is text book so not exactly a head scratcher to figure out, but nonetheless VERY troublesome. I hope and pray none of you kids here ever have this to deal with this kind of crap. It's a first rate nightmare.
Shelly, LOVE the Walmart story!

Kae I am happy that you have Mrs. Roy to speak to regarding your parents. It must help a lot to have someone who knows more about both parties to talk with.
And I hope I don't have as much of a headache as you have had with your parents. A plus side for me is that I am 1 of 5. So I will have people to share the headache with. I know my mom had a hard time with her mom. Growing up, my moms parents liked to pit their kids against each other...and that continued up until she died. My mom still to this day hasn't spoken to her youngest sister since my grandma died. Too much muddy water under that bridge.
Glad you liked the wal mart story. I thought it was really amusing, and you can see why the older gent has a harder time trying to work around someone else's schedule instead of his own.
Mrs. Roy has been wonderful. She has a solution for me but I now have to decide if the repercussions of this solution are going to be worth it. My father, like most bullies, is a coward. His reaction to me thwarting his latest power play will be massive. On the one hand I need to protect my mother, on the other, he can cause SO much grief, and he literally makes me sick, I have to protect myself as well.
KaeEll, Please try to hang in there. I can definitely relate to issues with ones parents as they get older. I have five brother's and sister's, but being the oldest, and the only empty nester out of the bunch, I seem to be the one with the most availability.
I am also the only one of us kids, who has gone over to Ireland, to see their house. There are all sorts of issues with my siblings related to their buying a house over there. I could write a book about my family's dysfunctional issues.
Anyway, I will send lots of positive thoughts up your way.
I am off to the office this morning. Tess is doing wonderfully! I worked for eleven hours yesterday, and managed to accomplish an amazing amount of things, so I am feeling like I can conquer the workplace world this morning.
I should be getting my salary offer from my company any day. They are trying to convert me over to full-time from contractor. I have been a contractor there for 18 months. It will be a decrease in money, I currently make $80.00 an hour contracting, but I am ready to go for the security and benefits associated with full-time. Especially in this economy.
