Our youngest flew in from Arizona on Tuesday night, and will be here until the 30th. She was really glad to be in "normal" weather, and not in 105 degree temperatures, and she's also been admiring the trees! It's funny how we can forget something like that when we've been away from home for a long time.
Originally, she'd planned to come home Wednesday night, which would have been great because my last doll club meeting of the season was Wednesday morning. Perfect! That would be out of the way, and I wouldn't have to think about it. Then...she moved her plans up by one day! YIKES!! And she emailed me a special dinner request, and of course it was something that was more trouble than I'd wanted to go to on the night before a meeting. I'd changed my idea for our meeting project, and was running around like an insane person (translation: like my normal self) in an effort to get ready.
Add to that the fact that our daughter was still on Arizona time, so although I'd intended to go to bed a little earlier than normal on Tuesday night, SHE was still three hours behind, and wanted to chat! Naturally, I stayed up with her because I haven't seen my child since Christmas.
Anyway, she decided to come to the meeting with me; the last time she did that she was about nine years old! We were making some cute, small little dolls with pipe cleaners, felt, wooden beads, glue, and embroidery floss, so my daughter decided to turn hers into an ASU cheerleader, in ASU colors, complete with fake boobs! (She used two little wooden beads.) It was hilarious. What amazed me was her level of concentration! She was determined to finish the project (I, of course, was running around doing other club-related things, and barely got mine started), and even spoke of trying to find a doll club in Phoenix!! Who knew???
We finally left after 2:00 pm, ravenously hungry, and headed back to Virginia. We wound up at the usual place, our local Clyde's, and enjoyed a very leisurely mother/daughter late lunch. Great fun! She was exhausted, and so was I (we'd had to haul a lot of stuff from the car, up to the second floor of the building, and back down again afterwards), but she can now relate to how tired I am at the end of these things.
Yesterday, she went out shopping with a girlfriend from boarding school who lives here, and then they had dinner together in Old Town Alexandria. Today, she's pretty much just "hung out", after having slept in a bit, and may go out with her brother tonight. Or we may all go out. The plans change frequently!
Tomorrow morning she's flying down to Raleigh to spend a few days with her sister, and with Loren, and will fly back on Tuesday. Whew...
Anyway, that's been my life for the past few days. It's really great to have her here, and she looks wonderful. Very happy...
KaeEll, I do know how difficult it was for you to wave bye-bye to your baby. It's just never an easy thing to do, and I'll be feeling the pull again at the end of next week.

It's almost Saturday and Ted is watching the depressing news, so I decided to check in here.
Moore, so happy you have been busy and not laid up at all. Yes, when these adult kids breeze in it's a whirlwind and we need all our energy. Give it a couple of more years and those menu requests will be a thing of the past. They learn, but it's slow, lol. Thank goodness for restaurants!
Mike is back from W.V. tonight and Maya had some kind of welcome for him. Tony is on the red eye tonight from LA to arrive early in the morning. Nick and buddy are on the way to Saskatoon tonight, making crazy time. cutting off at least a day from the trip out west. It's a shame they aren't stopping to see some sights but the fellow (guy Nick agreed to accompany) with the mission isn't much of a traveller, more interested in "making good time". The lack of curiosity in some people astounds me, but whatever.
Moore I am so happy to hear that you are having a good time with A-D. My poor mom has been so cold over the last couple weeks. Its too cold here for her AZ blood. But then yesterday it was like 80 something. Nice and warm. And how cool that she enjoyed the dolls.
We are enjoying a relatively warm Saturday. Nothing like yesterday but still not bad. What is everyone else up to this weekend.
We're leaving in a few minutes to visit Mrs. Roy in Oakville, have a cappuccino with her. She's giving me her fountain! I'm so excited about that!! Then we have to pick up mom and take her to the garden centre for an outing, then home to cook dinner, I guess.
It's nice and mild here today, sweater weather.
Shelly, thanks for checking in. I sent you a facebook message. Great pictures of your mom's wedding! Have any new ones of the girls to share?
I will be taking more pictures tomorrow. I have several and will upload what I have. I have a picture of Jolene at 3 weeks laying on her tummy lifting her head up really well. I want to get one of the twins doing the same thing. Kae I am happy to hear you are having an afternoon with Mrs. Roy. Let us know how great it went.
I just saw your message, my mom brought her wedding pictures with her and we are hoping to get a scrapbook put together.
